Storing breast milk

I have the MAM electric breast pump and currently only able to pump about an ounce at a time (30 mins pumping) so using the MAM storage container in the fridge to store until I have enough for baby to have a bottle, am I ok to keep adding to that after each pump as long as it doesn't go over the 6 days I was told by the midwife for breast milk in the fridge?

Make sure to put the next expressed milk in the fridge in a separate bottle before mixing the two, putting two types of temperatures of milk together can create bacteria. Once it’s been in the fridge for a few hours you can mix together and keep in one container ☺️

Hey are you using the right size flange? And when was baby born? Is it a ounce all together are off each breast xx

@Rebecca I think so, I get about an ounce all together :(, baby was born 25/09 so he's 13 days old today x

My little one was born the 24/9 and how often are you pumping and is this to just help build up a stash xx

@Rebecca I'm not pumping often because baby wants to be on the boob a lot! I'm pumping for 30 mins in the evenings and that's all at the moment I do want to up that it's just finding the time, it's to get a supply so my partner can feed baby, we mix feed right now and want to eventually cut out the formula x

It's important not to add warm milk to refrigerated milk. Make sure you chill down what you pump first before adding it to your existing milk. You can store it in a sterilised bottle until cold and then top up your container.
