Oh thankyou for replying. I really appreciate it. I had a few colposcopy’s when I had my first smear at 25 as I had pre cancerous cells. I’m 37 now and all our chances just feel like they are slipping away. I’ll call the clinic first thing and see what they say x
Oh wow that this must be super triggering then for you after your previous experience. It was over a year ago but from my memory if it’s just a colposcopy and nothing else then they should be fine with you cracking on when the results come back if there is nothing else to do. Not sure if this is an option for you… but you could ask if they would let you do egg collection and freeze embryos and then only do transfer once result are back so you can do some of the process, not sure if they would but could be worth an ask. Sending love ❤️
Thankyou for being so kind. I’ll ask them that… it’s such a hard process without all the other stuff going on! I don’t know how anyone does any of this and keeps a level head. I’ve tried to be so calm and sensible about it all but days like this make me think we aren’t meant to be parents. Like someone’s trying to tell us something. Thanks again for replying, means a lot xx
@Kristen I am in the middle of this right now, waiting for the NHs to take my smear seriously which is proving challenging but about to freeze my eggs next week
So this happened to me. I was told by my clinic I needed to wait for the results of the colposcopy before continuing with IVF. I rang the colposcopy clinic and asked for an appointment asap and explained the situation and then phoned me with a cancellation I think the next day. The results came back clear and I would have been good to go but we didn’t continue with IVF then and went down a different route for fertility support. The colposcopy is taking such a small bit of tissue (likely grain of rice or smaller) I don’t think it affects the ivf process but obviously they want to know you are all okay before proceeding. Fingers crossed you are seen quickly I know how devastating it can be with things crop up and you have to wait longer again as well as the worry about the results etc. x
