My night tonight

My 1 mo would not stop crying after being bathed fed and changed for what seemed like forever and I didn’t know what to do . I was on the break of tears and said out loud I’m about to just give up and my boyfriend speaks up and says “then give up” I’ve never felt so defeated and at loss 😕 He’s settled now and all good, but man it was a rough night

Same thing happened to my and my baby at 5 weeks.... 3 nights in a row. No way of helping my baby, she was crying from 1130 pm to 5 am in the morning... so hard. I'm sorry your boyfriend wasn't more supportive in the situation

My 7 week old baby girl has going through the same thing tonight from 4:30pm til just now at 10:30pm. I think it’s gas by the way she’s squirming but it’s hard to know for sure. ❤️‍🩹

My son is almost 7 weeks, has a lip tie and potentially a sensitivity to something, and has had *hours* some days where he's just inconsolable from gas. We burp him, change his positions, do his little exercises, simethicone, warm baths, windi tubes, literally everything we can and it still lasts 6+ hours sometimes. Not to say that your baby is dealing with gas (we can tell with our boy because he's constantly passing gas during the process, has a tense tummy, and gets more upset any time he starts to fart/has brief calm periods after burping or passing any kind of gas.) it's actually developmentally normal for babies at this age to have a peak in fussiness and crying, sometimes for seemingly no reason. I know it's incredibly physically and mentally exhausting, especially when you just need to sleep, and it hurts to see them so upset and not be able to fix it when you're used to being their comfort and their safe space. I just want to remind you that you're doing an amazing job, it's not your fault 1/2

2/2 you're the best mama for your little one and you're still his safe place, even when you can't fix whatever is hurting him. It's okay to feel defeated. It's okay to cry, to mentally check out, to need to walk away. You're doing great and you'll both get through this period. ❤️

I'd also like to add: your boyfriend should be supporting you and helping comfort baby so you can step away and regulate when it gets to be too much. If he's not doing that, you really need to have a serious discussion/evaluate your situation. You *need* backup. Caring for a baby is not a one person job. Do you have any support outside of your home? Anyone who could help on rough days if your boyfriend won't?

I’m sorry. I understand your feeling of frustration. Don’t let what your bf said upset you, it seems like he could’ve take over sooner at least for a little bit to give you a break. I’m first time mom and also learning is ok to need a break sometimes.

@Isa when he came home from work at 7 I had just got him to settle and he was smiling when he heard his dad’s voice, so I figured he’d be okay holding him. But he immediately starting crying and he said “it’s like you gave him to me just to cry” and that i knew he was gonna cry. He gets very overwhelmed when the baby is crying sometimes. so it’s very difficult having him help me settle him when he’s like that.

6-8 weeks (doesn’t last 2weeks but can start anytime from 6-8 weeks) is when your baby will go through their first leap. Pretty much it’s when they realize how big the world really is and they cry because they are scared. (Her pediatrician told me about this) Walks helped my girl she’s now 8 weeks and we are finally through it! Now she just fights her sleep 🤣🫠 if you ever need someone to talk to through the nights I’m always here 🙂🫶🏽 feel free to text me anytime!

Yeah my baby has just been crying for the past hour while my toddler was running around screaming and my husband was trying to corral her while the TV was blasting on loud in the background.... I think things have settled 🥴

Your baby may be overtired. If they spend too long awake which can happen by night time they get really really fuzzy. Also, maybe just do a quick sponge clean vs a bath. I feed my baby a little to keep her in a good mood while I bathe her. Then after her bath she eats all she wants and falls asleep. Rocking, shushing, really helps her sleep. I hold her until she’s in deep sleep and then I put her down
