Postnatal complications

So I’m 10 days postpartum and during labour I had an episiotomy and from the episiotomy cut I got a second degree tear because baby got stuck I noticed my stitches weren’t healing so I went into the hospital yesterday and got checked and I was told it’s all infected and my stitches are bursting open because of the swelling and infection, I am on antibiotics now but the pain is absolutely unbearable and I’m doing everything I can… I’m cleaning it thoroughly with water and using witch-hazel and natural Epsom salts as well as taking paracetamol and ibuprofen but it’s still so painful I can’t even sit down or do anything really for that matter :( Do you have any other ideas of what could help, I can’t take stronger painkillers since I’m breastfeeding

You can get doughnut/comfort pillows. I personally didn’t use one so unsure how effective they are, but might be worth looking into as may give some relief when sitting x

I’d stop using witch hazel and keep it all as simple as possible - clean just with water. Also air dry afterwards - I used to lay on my bed for 20mins after a shower with my legs open 😂 to get the area air dry. I had a really bad episiotomy infection

I didn’t have an infection but was quite swollen down there- I had an episiotomy and forceps! Sitting down was unbearable so I got a little donut to sit on and it helped relieve the pressure or if I sat I’d not sit straight down I’d angle my self to one side to help at bedtime id use my maternity pillow to lay on my side and prop between my legs to avoid any pressure and breastfeeding at night I’d try angle myself not directly onto the area so there wasn’t a lot of pressure. Do you take the paracetamol and ibuprofen together? If you do maybe take them separately to have a longer coverage? Also I bought some sanitary towels and put witch hazel in a dish dipped the whole sanitary towel in and put them in the freezer and then used a couple a day to cool and reduce the swelling this was a bloody god send and just felt amazing 😅 after a shower lay on the bed for 10mins with no knickers on to just let air get to it too! The pain does get better it doesn’t feel it but it does I promise xx

I used a donut cushion for sitting on and this made it that little bit more comfortable, you can put an ice pack wrapped in a tea towel in the hole in the middle to help with swelling! Also I used my expert midwife sprits for bits but didn’t spray it directly onto myself I sprayed it onto a sanitary pad, also the Freda mom cooling pads worked a treat!
