Just wondering if someone could help? Or have info that could help. Can you get in contact with the family who have adopted a family member? (UK)

I have a nephew who went into care 8 years ago. He was only 1 years old. Anyway I’m not in contact with my sister (the mum) due to her being on drugs and alcohol. She had no contact with him. I think she used to receive photos and maybe an update on him but she’ll no longer receive this due to not a steady address ( I assume). Im sure he was adopted in Northampton a couple of years after being in care. Anyway I wanted to make contact with him, or at least his family he is with. I’m not sure on the rules and how it all works. But there must be a way?? Like how do I go about it? Or will I not be able too at all? I’d appreciate any advice on who to speak too etc if it’s even possible x

Following, I have a little brother in care too! He was adopted about 10 years ago now, same situation as you, dad on drugs and I have no contact with him( we don’t share the same mum). X

I *think* you can email social services and ask whether you can please be put in contact with the family. Explain why, explain you'd like to be able to have a relationship with the child, or just know he's okay, or whatever it is you want.
