Passing baby around

Any advice on what to say at family things when people expect to hold the baby? My mother in law always ends up holding him for ages and I'm not ready for that yet and want to grab him back every second đź«Ł recovering people pleaser! What can I say to avoid giving him round to people? Thanks!

Get a wearable carrier and don’t take him out. Just say “sorry he’s asleep” or that he’s content where he is. Maybe later on they can have more cuddles.

Yup…wear him in a carrier!

You can say "its RSV season and I would feel more comfortable with him staying with me" If ANYONE objects, thats a them problem. You have the right to boundaries for your child!

I literally just take my baby back. Stay focused on him and say things like 'come to mama' to him rather than asking the adult for your baby.

Thanks so much everyone! Super helpful and also reassuring that other people feel this way!đź’—
