Colic vent sesh:/

4 1/2 week old at home and we’ve tried EVERYTHING to help the fussing and screaming. Gripe water, gas drops, sensitive formula, even suppositories! Nothing helps. As soon as he eats he just screams. Not sure what to do. We feed him sitting up with slow feed bottles. He burps but just won’t settle. No amount of rocking or bicycle kicks helps. Struggling to stay positive and know that this will end eventually. Just hard to live in the moment and appreciate all the firsts when you’re in survival mode. How do I come up for air?? I have an amazing village I’ve been leaning on so why do I feel so awful. My Dr has me on anti depressants for ppd but yet I still cry every night… what more is there to do. I hate how dr’s just say it’s normal. Is it normal to feel like my child hates me?

My babyboy had colic, it was awful and made me so anxious, I would dread every evening as I knew it was coming. It’s a lot for us as their mums and can most definitely take its toll😢 It does pass, hang on in there, you are doing amazing 💗

Also not sure if you’re BF, but if so, it may be worth cutting dairy out of your diet incase he’s intolerant x

If the screaming is during or after feeds could he have silent reflux? May be worth speaking with his GP about it! You’ve literally described what my little one was like and since being prescribed gaviscon and changing her to a lactose free milk she is like a different baby!

I’m so sorry, this sounds awfully hard. Could you try probiotics? Was your baby born through csection? I give my baby probiotics sometimes to help build her gut bacteria bc she was born through section (didn’t get good bacteria coming out) and then I was on super strong antibiotics (didn’t get good bacteria from my milk) and I think it has helped her.

And as morgan said it could be reflux too, it’s so painful.

This is very often due to cows milk allergy. Have you tried a dairy free formula?

Sounds like it could be a milk allergy you either need prescription formula or to go dairy free if breastfeeding. The key clue is it starts with feeding it would be pain from the allergy causing it

Colic is not normal. It’s a process but don’t just let it be. You gotta advocate for your baby. Have baby seen by a pediatric dentist to check for tongue and lip tie. I had two drs tell me my baby didn’t have either and the dentist said she had a very severe one. Makes a world of difference. Possible dairy intolerance or cmpa. If formula fed try an amino acid based formula. They’ve proven to help the most for colic. If breastfeeding cut everything dairy AND soy (read every label because they sneak soybean oil into damn near everything!) If formula fed: you can make a very diluted ginger tea (1:24oz) to keep in the fridge. Then you can add 1/2oz to bottle when making formula. I also made chamomile tea for my baby and added 1oz to her bottles when making formula it’s very calming for babies. If none of the above helps then more testing is necessary because there is a root cause. A food intolerance, an allergy to something, something genetic

Also silent reflux is a huge one too. Baby can be put on meds and I would try. If the dr doesn’t think it’s a good idea then it is 100% okay to see as many drs as it takes to get one to listen and support you! Don’t give up.

@Gemma cutting out dairy and soy has made a huge difference for us. My baby is now 5 months and we’re still getting no sleep but atleast bubba can fart mostly by themselves at this point

Your baby doesn’t hate you ❤️ I’ve felt this way before . You are his world . Hang in there
