switching contraception

i was on progesterone only pill about 2 weeks after my daughter was born (3 and a half months ago) and switched to depo shot about a month and a half or so ago. however i’m worried as i haven’t had a period since getting the shot (was due to have one a week after the shot) and everyone else whose had it said they bled for ages after getting it. i got told by the person who gave me the shot that i was immediately protected from pregnancy and there was no need from refraining from sex as there would be no gap in protection for me, is this true? terrified i’m pregnant again.

If you take it on the first day of menstrution then you’re protected

If you take it any other day then you have to abstain for 7 days . However depo can stop your periods completely, I was on it for six years so know a lot about it . Mine stopped completely

@Justina i wasn’t told that. i wasn’t on my period when i got it done i was due a week later and they still said i would be protected immediately

I always told you were protected from the get go. I haven’t had a period since being on the depo. I may have the occasional bleed when it’s coming to the end of the 3 months, but that’s it. If you’re worried then get a test, that’s the only way to know and stop worrying.
