Haematoma

Just had a 10 week scan and haematoma seen between yolk sack and uterus, not near where placenta is. Didn’t have this with first pregnancy and was told quite common and should resolve itself in a few weeks. I’ve not had any bleeding so far just wondering if I should be worried, online it says can increase risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy Anyone had this and have any advice/reassurance? Everything else looked fine with baby heartbeat heard and seen

I’ve just had this exact same thing at my scan yesterday, I have to go for another scan in two weeks because it’s bigger than 20mm , the nurse said not to google anything and gave me a leaflet it should ether pass in blood or your body will absorb it I’ve been told no heavy lifting or intercourse and hopefully all will be well xx

Hey hon, I had a scan on Sunday as I started to have some brown discharge and went into panic mode. The scan showed that I also have a heamatoma and this is likely the cause of my very light brown discharge. The relief to see my little one moving around was indescribable. I’d say if you do get any spotting, get it checked for your own peace of mind but try not to worry…easier said then done as I’m feeling exactly the same! I haven’t had any bright blood colour just really light brown showing that it’s old bloody. I have had 4 previous miscarriages so I’m on progesterone to help us along x

Yeah I’ve only had brown discharge too no red bleeding, nice to know that I’m not in this alone and it’s common !x

Thank you both so much for sharing, it really helps to know I’m not alone and seems to be quite common in early pregnancy! Will definitely go back if I have any spotting/bleeding x

I didn’t get a pic of mine, he didn’t tell me the size but I remember it looked like a very dark area on the scan x

I only got pics and videos because we went private and booked a really bloody expensive one ..didn’t know we would get all this info x got this little video too

@Ellie found out I had this as well over the weekend after bright red bleeding (not fun). Realized certain activities are flaring the SCH up but like you the SCH is small and next to the cervix. I wouldn’t worry. Doctor said the size and position is positive in terms of causing any issues. Everything I’ve read on the internet has said it’s super common (especially in IVF patients like myself) and that it would resolve on its own. One study I read actually found no difference in miscarriages between women diagnosed with SCH in the first trimester vs those who weren’t. My bleeding has completely stopped and I now have very slight infrequent brown spotting. Oh and baby is perfectly happy and fine after my bleed :) I’m just going to stay away from sex until my dating scan on 2 weeks! Don’t worry - you’ve got this! ☺️☺️
