Toddler gift when new baby comes?

Did you give your toddler a gift when you brought the new baby home, or are you planning on it? Is this a thing? I'm due in December and want the introduction to baby sister to be as pleasant as possible. Or if you have any other ideas!

We did the gift exchange! It went over well. We did the introduction at home and that in my opinion was much easier to navigate then the hospital. Baby got my older son dino noise cancelling headphones lol (he’s noise sensitive) and a reusable sticker book Big bro got baby a book and a stuffed animal similar to one he got as a baby! We also had anyone who visited bring a little something for or acknowledge our toddler in his new role and didn’t want to put all the attention on our newborn. Our toddler loved the little trinkets or toys/snacks people brought. It went a lot smoother than I thought these toddlers surprise us I swear 💕 sending good vibes

We gave our toddler a “gift from baby sister” when she was born! No idea if it actually helped the introduction, but he liked it! We had also had him pick out a gift to give to his baby sister!

My newborn son "got" my daughter a new special unicorn water bottle. It is a different kind/brand than the ones she already had so it's really special. Also got her a new Skip hop backpack for daycare, and a picture frame that says "my brother and me" and I put their picture in it and put it up in her room after he was born. She "got him" a Teddy bear and matching blanket set and some teether toys she helped me pick out. She was excited to get a present and he's 4 months now and she's obsessed with her baby brother. We also got her tons of big sister books and read them all the time leading up to me giving birth

@Emma oh thank you for this ! I hadn't heard of a "gift exchange" but that's a great idea! 💕

@Lori awee. I love the idea of books leading up to it 🥹 thank you!
