You won’t like my take: just because your religion says to be “fruitful”, it makes you an IRRESPONSIBLE parent if you knowingly can’t afford future children but keep pumping them out with no plans on how you will meet basic NEEDS.

Don’t say it’s the economy. People have been planning to have kids knowing dang well they don’t have enough money to meet basic and essential needs of the child.

I agree! It’s selfish to bring kids into this world with no way to provide for them. But unfortunately everyone doesnt have that choice now

I Agree!! i understand the want for children, it’s been my dream forever. but if i knowingly couldn’t support the basic needs of a child I would do everything I could to make sure that I don’t put myself in the position to make one- let alone try for a baby/multiple. it is selfish as they care more about becoming a parent as they see it is their right and job as a person than giving their children a good life. its so sad :(

I agree that you shouldn't have kids if you can't afford them, but I don't think being "fruitful" is just talking about having kids, its about creating good things in general. I'm going off my understanding of Christian belief, it might mean something different in other religions

@Melissa perhaps my phasing was wrong or not specific. I’m specifically talking about individuals who wholeheartedly believe they need to keep having kids after kids after kids until their body physically can’t contribute to reproduction. People who will have kids no matter the circumstances simply because they are happily fulfilling religious expectations. I saw someone post about this TikTok family on here. the parents (by their own words) are “deeply religious folks who will continue to be fruitful until it’s no longer possible”. I’m not here to debate if they truly are “Christian” or whatever but more specifically the situation they have put themselves and kids in. Her CURRENTLY pregnant, neither parent choosing to NOT work and her already taking about having the next baby and not being able to provide basic needs that ALL kids are ENTITLED to. But asking strangers to do this for them. Being fruitful and not having income is irresponsible.
