umbilical hernia?

My baby’s belly button sticks out when she cries. We had her one month old checkup and doctor thinks it’s an umbilical hernia and that this may resolve o its own or not and require surgery later. Anyone have experience with this and what is the outcome.

I think my girl might have the same, read it should sort on its own so waiting until we next visit the doctor x

My son had an umbilical hernia when he was little. It resolved itself at around 8 months. He is 14 months old now and you would never know he had it. It never bothered him. It only bothered me when he cried.

@Melissa that’s good to know! Yes it bothers me too bc it sticks out so much when she cries.

One of my twins has this, it was really large at around the 8 week checks, he's now 21 weeks and it's already so much smaller. Just looks like a baggy tummy button now and hopefully will keep going down and flattening out. As soon as he started moving around more, trying to roll and stuff it started to get smaller, I guess as his muscles toned. Hopefully your little girl's will too x

My sons went down around 3m. Never bothered him.
