Stitches open after episiotomy

I had a little girl 2 weeks ago and delivered naturally apart from an episiotomy (I was cut to the side). I noticed that my stitches were open earlier this week and mentioned it to my midwife who said it’s very common for stitches to come open and it’s fine as long as there’s no bad smell or pus. I can’t see anything worrying like that but I have actual holes where the stitches are open. Like 2 big holes. I don’t understand how my body will heal properly from this and if it does, I feel like I’m going to have huge scarring. Can anyone relate?

I had this and a midwife told me I would need to go in to be restiched so I had an appointment with gynecology and he said it would heal naturally. I also saw the pelvic health midwife who gave me some cream (flaminol) By around 7 weeks I was pretty much healed and signed off by both. I have some scarring but am pretty much back to normal apart from the scars at 15 weeks pp. Could you get in touch with the midwives to see if they have a pelvic health specialist who will have a look?

Thank you that’s good to know. I’ll keep an eye on the wound this week and if I’m still not happy I’ll ask to see someone in pelvic health.

Did you both work out ok? I had my baby girl a week ago and it looks like some of my stitches have come loose. My midwife is visiting tomorrow so going to get her to take her look and see what she says. I’m scared that they’re going to fob me off because they’re busy and I don’t want down there to look a mess in the future.

Definitely get the midwife to check but I’m absolutely fine now. Stitches healed up perfectly despite coming open. I’ve even managed to have sex after my 6 week checkup.

Same, all good but I do have a scar

Sorry I should have added I do have a scar too but it doesn’t look bad at all
