Pre teen girl drama

For the moms who are raising or have raised pre teens when does the drama ever start. It just seems like every other day there is another fight, my daughter crying one girl going out of her way to be mean. The girl will apologize and despite me telling my daughter to not be friends with her she does it anyway. I’m exhausted for having to have to damage control trying to figure out why they are fighting. I don’t remember going through this much drama when I was her age.

It’s the worst around 11-13, by high school it gets a bit better, and around 17 they all start to chill out.

@Genevieve that is really good to know.

One of those things they have to learn on their own. Just be a good listener and provide advice when she asks for it. A lot of times girls just want to be accepted, and she might feel this is relationship is valuable in some way, in a social aspect sort of way. But after high school I’m sure she’ll learn that she can make other friends, and be able to stick up for herself and create boundaries and have the self esteem needed for that as she gets older. Without our pre-frontal cortex developed it’s hard for children that age to see a way through their current situations. They feel very distraught that this feeling will stick forever. So while we have the insight that this will pass, it won’t be as easy for her, just model to her the calmness and reasoning that she can reference as she gets older.

I remember it being just like that and if my mom told me not to be friends with someone they almost automatically became my bff. It’s all part of the pre-teen years.

No advice but have the exact same with my 10 year old!

God its constant. With mine since about age 9, now nearly 12, constant drama. *THIS* is the worse part of parenting so far. Not newborn, not toddler, this right here because it’s not just your kid that’s the issue but everyone else’s kids and you’re completely helpless. This is the age their social lives are the most important thing to them and kids can be evil!
