Is this enough?

My little boy is turning 2 this month and I'm unsure if I've got him enough presents? Myself and my partner have got him; a toy Dyson hoover, a leapfrog book, hot wheels track and 4 cars and some toy dinosaurs He already has so many toys so we didn't want to over do it plus family and friends will gift our little one as well. He has a softplay party the day before and then we are going to the Zoo on his actual birthday. I just feel like we should have got him more presents after seeing a lot of peoples photos? Am I just being daft?

No you're good I reckon! We got my son 5 small presents, and there's one from my mum. Just some brio track, 2 puzzles, a toy truck and a swingball. His birthday is tomorrow and we decided to pace gifts over the weekend. Every time we gave him one he was so happy and played with each one lots. We haven't even managed to give them all yet. But he honestly was so happy with the 3 we've given so far. I guess we'll do a couple more tomorrow after nursery. I don't know how we'd manage to give more without it being overwhelming for him. Your little boy will be delighted. Plus my sister told me, be careful not to set too high a bar for future years!

Honestly that’s perfect! We’ve only got 4 presents for our little girl (and 2 of them are clothes and boots 😂). We’re also going to a soft play on her birthday. I know my family and my partners family have got her loads of toys and clothes, so for me why go crazy when everyone else does? Especially with it SO close to Christmas! Her birthday is the 30th November. It’s the same with Christmas, we aren’t going crazy with presents. There’s just no point, it gets too overwhelming and then everything just gets chucked in the toy basket 😂

That’s perfect!! I have got my daughter 4 presents, then she is having a party with family the day before then on the day we are going to a farm! Like others have said you don’t want to overwhelm! Xxx

Absolutely enough! It's my boys birthday tomorrow and he's got a doctor's set, leapfrog tablet, some tiger ears and a Winnie the pooh play set. They would be happy with just one thing, I don't think they need loads

I don’t really understand why you would have to ask this. Just buy what you think he likes, or don’t buy anything but take him somewhere. I feel like some people see it as a competition. Your son will not even know if he got little or a lot of presents

Comparison is often the thief of joy. I personally think we’ve gone overboard ourselves and there’s even more presents from family members & friends coming. It’s so overwhelming at their age! I personally think you’ve done more than enough and I’m sure your little boy will be over the moon with all his gifts 🫶🏽

We only bought our daughter a kitchen. With some pots and pans. She is very content with the 1ish gift she got.

That’s absolutely fine hun, I’m sure he’ll be super happy with what he’s got, plus he’ll have a lovely party and zoo trip. Don’t compare to what others have done. My little girls birthday was on Friday and I’ll be honest we went OTT with gifts and she wasn’t interested after opening a few.

We only got one big present, then she had lots of smaller things from grandparents. She also received them over 3 days rather than all at once. We actually don't have many toys in general and she plays great with what she has. Plus I've still got a few ideas for Christmas.

Your son will not care if you didn’t get him anything 😂😂

I 100% Agree with the above comment of not setting the bar too high, we've done that at Christmas over the years and now are seriously regretting it. I put a question out a while ago about how much to spend on Christmas presents and the results made me see how much we've seriously overspent on our kids! My near 19 year old just asked me for a new computer for Christmas costing 1200 pounds I was like your joking right?!

Quality over quantity, don't stress it 👌 x I got mine only a handful of things... some peter rabbit and paddington themed clothes and books and a personalised story book. All the characters he loves and new reading material is always a win win for me too or else I'll go doolally. Plus a sneaky paddington toothbrush to help with his aversion to cleaning them 😏 fingers crossed. Roll on the twos, have a brilliant birthday together x

@Isla love the idea of spreading the gifts over a few days 💕

It’s sad that you have to even ask this question. All our babies want is our time! I’ve bought £1 used books off Vinted as part of my daughters presents as I couldn’t find the ones I knew she would love anywhere. Will she care if it’s not perfect? Absolutely not all she cares about is her mumma will be doing mr tumble words and signs with her for all the time to come 🤣 just enjoy the day!

My baby is getting a Tonie for his 2nd bday and that’s it, because he has no idea what a present is, what a birthday is, how old he is and literally will not remember his birthday..do you remember your 2nd one and what you got? :) Please don’t fall into this comparison /overconsumption trap that is everywhere on social media, you’ve bought enough gifts and as you said your child has a lot of toys already xx

I go by: Something she wants, something she needs, something to wear and something to read. She doesn't need tons and other people will buy for her anyway. I think too many people have lost sight of what's important around birthdays and Christmas, it's not about the gifts. So don't pressure yourself on buying tons. Just celebrate your baby on their birthday and celebrate family at Christmas, time is far more precious than any amount of gifts.
