C-section - when can I have a bath?

The guidelines I’m seeing everywhere are different and I’ve been told different things from different midwives! I’m dying for a bubble bath, how long did everyone wait after their C section? It’s been a week since my section tomorrow x

I’m not a bath taker but I don’t recall being told I could take one after my C-section

I was told after 6 weeks

I had a bath 4 weeks after xxx

I was told after 6 weeks x

I waited 7 weeks

I was told to wait 6 weeks.

I was told about 6 weeks. I left it till after that as the wound got an infection a week after my section. They say not to get the wound too wet to allow it to heal fully.

Thank you everyone I think I’m probably best leaving it 6 weeks it sounds! Everytime the midwives have been they said it’s healing nicely so only 5 more weeks now 😩😂

I was told can have one straight away, just got to wash the area with the shower after. As our shower is rubbish I had to ask.

I think a lot of it depends on what stitches you have. With both of my sections I was told to wait until I had had my 6 week check as my stitches were dissolvable. Hope this helps :)

@Sophie I have dissolvable ones! I think waiting is probably my best bet isn’t it to be certain 😓

I was told I could take one as soon as my dressing was removed (internal stitches with no opening 5 days pp). But there was no way I could’ve got myself in and out the bath. I didn’t get in for 8 weeks and I had a pretty smooth recovery x

@Marissa my midwife has just been, she’s checked my stitched she said there healing fine! And that I can have a bubble bath now and it’s only been 1 week and 3 days since my C section … so I’m just going to have a bath 😂xxx
