Has anyone else had mastitis?

I have mastitis; I'm breastfeeding, and my baby girl is 17 days old. Has anyone else had mastitis? My breast is very sore, and there's a small red mark on it, so my GP prescribed gave me antibiotics. I'm just wondering how long it will take to heal. I feel unwell during the day because of the chest pain and soreness. 🥲

Going through it now, I’m on day 3 of antibiotics and finally feeling better!

@Raina get well soon! It’s my first day, I’m hoping it’s gonna heal very soon 🥲

It’s so horrible. Take ibuprofen to lower the inflammation and keep feeding/hand expressing. I found a hot water bottle really helped but some people find cold better! Hope you feel better soon.

It took me about a week to start feeling better. Had a high fever and body aches for one day then the rest of the days discomfort. Pain meds and antibiotics will do the job. You can also use hot/cold compress. I also started taking a supplement called sunflower lecithin by legendairy milk. Feel better soon!

I had it 3 times, do not use a hot water bottle as mastitis is due to inflamed muscles and heat will make it worse. Use cold compress, feed as per normal and do massages towards the nipple and lymph nodes. When you massage, do it as if you were petting a cat. Had a midwife and doctors tell me these tips. Also ibuprofen

@Lucy I do take both ibuprofen & paracetamol. Also the antibiotics, so hopefully I’m gonna feel better soon. It’s just super exhausting🥺

Get back in touch with gp if you don't begin to feel better within a few days!

You can use sunflower lecithin to break down the duct and then get baby to suck on the boobs to drain. Warm shower with massage, cold compress after feeding

@Hilal it is!! Especially when looking after a LO. I had horrendous sickness with mine. Really hope you’re feeling better soon 💖
