Thanks Karen. I guess my concern is that it might make the daycare transition harder for her if she’s used to the comfort of breastfeeds during the day with me, and all of a sudden they are gone. Did you find this at all or am I just overthinking it??
My little boy started nursery at 14 months and was still EBF and it caused no issues. We just fed around nursery. They adapt super quickly. No need to wean if you don't want to x
I wouldn’t do anything simply because she’s going to childcare. My son started daycare around 8 months and I still continued to nurse him until he was 22 months old actually. They’re really good at adapting to different environments.
@Rachael before starting childcare did you cut out any of his day feeds that he would be having at times he is at childcare? My daughter is fed to sleep for both her naps, so I’m hoping it’s isn’t too unsettling for her that she won’t have them.
@Nikki no I didn't change a thing. I still fed him to sleep for naps and bedtime but he went to sleep fine at nursery. Initially staff would rock him to sleep but then he just learnt to self settle. Still didn't at home 🤣 it's amazing how much they adjust when you're not there x
@Rachael thank you, that’s very reassuring.
I have a 15 month old. Had been at daycare for 6 months. She doesn't have bottles at daycare but when I'm home she signals for feeds and overnight had feeds still. You don't have to wean if you dont want to, but she also may self wean. Each child is different.
