When can I have sex after birth ?

yikes i wouldn’t risk it especially if you got stitches, you don’t want it not healing properly or reopening up at risk of infection

I can't imagine they'd say yes since you have stitches, I imagine waiting for the stitches to heal is bare minimum, but that's not considering the internal wound you're healing... is there something else you can do in the meantime? Maybe help your partner get off, or something that's not penetration?

6 weeks is generally the rule, sometimes doctor can clear early. I would talk to them at your 2 week appt

yes please wait. it will hurt like a mf if you try anything before your stitches are healed. i had like 4 stitches and we did it at 7 weeks and it hurt. i was feeling horny at 2 weeks but it’s worth the wait i promise. you can please your partner but i wouldn’t touch anything down there for a month AT LEAST

Most definitely need to wait. At least 6 weeks and since you had so many stitches you should probably wait even longer. But definitely don’t do snuffing before 6 weeks and ask your doctor and get checked up then

You aren’t supposed to for 6 weeks after because of infections and getting air into your womb which isn’t fully back to its normal size yet 🫶🏼

The reason to wait 6 weeks is because the placenta that has come away from your uterus has essentially left a dinner plate sized wound. That is the potential for infection if semen gets there

You risk infection before 6 weeks because that's the average time it take for where the placenta was to heal. And your stitches will also need to heal

6 weeks - because 1 - there is a dinner plate sized wound in your uterus from the placenta, 2. It takes a good 6 weeks for your tear/cut to heal - it might be healed on the surface but it’s still healing underneath - that’s with any cuts/wounds that are sutured not just the perineum.

I had a couple of stitches and even 7 weeks pp, it hurt really bad when we had sex the first time.

i had stitches and trust me they were not healed within 10 days 🤣 you might end up ripping them open so i wouldn’t even bother. and like the comments say above, you risk infections by having sex too soon as you have an healing wound in your uterus still. ps for when you do have sex, your most fertile after you’ve given birth so use contraception (unless you’re wanting another right away haha)
