How can you mentally prepare for birth?

I’ve had quite a difficult year with life in general and it’s been really hard to try and stay positive through my pregnancy. Now towards the end they’ve found some complications, nothing too concerning but complications non the less and it means Ill need a C section rather than vaginal birth. It’s just been the icing on the cake for me. I’m finding it very difficult to get excited I’m just very scared. I’m going to be a single parent so its made me worry more about how I’ll manage. Im worried i’ll feel very disconnected from my baby after birth which I was never worried about until now.

Look into hypnobirthing techniques. It's assumed a lot that you can't use hypnobirthing to help with c sections but you can and loads of women have found it so helpful with their c sections. There is a podcast I listen to on Spotify called the hypnobirthing podcast by Claire. There's some birthing stories and info about hypnobirthing with c sections it's really worth a listen. At the moment I'm looking at a natural birth but have been anxious due to a traumatic previous labour and this has really helped me to stay relaxed.

@Kirsty That’s amazing, thank you x

There are some positive c section stories here too 😊 https://open.spotify.com/show/3iYKOdchcVziYTy54JJ7FC?si=7Hwq3yGjQBOBrHjPOVkGpw

@Izzy Thank you 😊 x

No worries, best of luck. Our bodies are built for this no matter how birth happens so you got this!! X

It's also worth speaking to your midwife or consultant if you have one if you're worried about your mental health at all. They can help. It's also totally normal to feel the way you do and they've probably dealt with it a lot so it's worth asking them for help 🙏

@Nicole Yes your right, definitely bringing it up at my next appointment x

Listen to some positive birth stories ( lots of c sections ones out there) I always listen to pop that mumma on Spotify and did her hypnobirthing online course too x
