Eliminating sugar

Hey for my pre-diabetic and diabetic mamas, have you eliminated foods with sugar, cane sugar as an ingredient? Do you eat honey, agave, date/coconut sugar in small amounts/moderation? I’m looking to eat fruits in moderation when I get a sweet tooth…my diabetes was in total remission for like 3 weeks and I’m trying to get it back into remission no medicine…mamas that are not blood sugar/insulin challenged please feel free to comment as well

My blood sugar is more affected by rice, bread, potatoes, and fruit than by foods with sugar. I do limit foods with sugar, but I haven’t completely cut them out. But cutting out rice bread potatoes and fruit has helped me to keep my blood sugar more level. I don’t drink soda at all either.

I eat simple carbs in moderation and try to eat complex carbs like oatmeal and Ezekiel bread. I also eat a high protein diet. Combined with daily exercise I was able to go off insulin. I still take oral meds but my blood sugar is well controlled and I'm now in pre-diabetic range

@Marcelle ohh ok yes I need to cut out the starch…right now I’m eating berries which are lower in carb but I don’t eat that much of them…more like snack on them a little bit a day…but fruit is really good for you and actually helps heal your body over time so I don’t wanna cut it out although I don’t eat as much fruit as I used to like in smoothies

@Alicia ok awesome congrats mama! That’s one thing too I need more exercise…but oats spiked my blood sugar but I think it’s because I was adding sugar to it lol but I currently use honey, and coconut sugar in small amounts…I have come to hate artificial sweeteners…Allulose isn’t so bad but it’s the sugar alcohols and Sucralose I don’t like…and I can’t find pure monk fruit sweetener

Try amazon for monkfruit sweetner. I use a little Splenda in my oatmeal or eat it plain
