Pregnant after two missed miscarriages

Hi congrats on becoming pregnant again I have had 8 miscarriages and now I'm 30 weeks pregnant tonmorow but it's been such a constant worry I had to go to the recurrent miscarriage clinic and they said I have no problem falling pregnant it's keeping the pregnancy and so they put me on progesterone pessaries from 6 weeks pregnant tinzaparin injections from the same and high dose folic acid and aspirin from about 9 weeks and it's gone smoothly I did get took into hospital on Monday thinking I was in preterm labour they done a test and I'm positive for going into preterm labour and still in hospital with pains low iron issue with my liver and gestational diabetes I just think this last hurdle I'm struggling so hopefully baby girl will stay put for a few more weeks xxx

I had two losses before having my daughter last Christmas day. I remember everytime I went to the toilet I was checking to make sure there was no blood. I even had a bleed at 12+4 and it turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma. but she's a healthy 10 month old. X

I had two miscarriages this year, and found out I’m pregnant. I feel the same worry and concern. I have to say, I’m not getting as excited this time around because of the fear of losing again. I do feel like my breasts are changing a little bit, but no other side effects. I do know that my team was happy to schedule as many ultrasounds as I needed previously to help with my anxiety, and know they will do the same this time.

Guidance has changed in the last year and you no longer need to have had 3 miscarriages before they offer you further support/help. I know it’s hard but I would really push for what your options are be that progesterone or something else that you can take.

I have a lot in common with you! I have a toddler who was my first pregnancy. He is almost 2 and a half. This year I’ve had two anembryonic pregnancies and I think I could be pregnant again but I’ll find out for sure in about a week 😅 I have an appointment on December 6th to discuss options on some testing we can do to help figure out ways to improve my odds of having another sticky pregnancy. My second miscarriages actually started monitoring progesterone and was able to - on supplements but it didn’t matter. Lost it regardless. My first miscarriage I did bloodwork at the beginning and I had normal progesterone. Carried that one for 11.5 weeks!

@mammy to 8 angels 👼 I'm 24 weeks with baby #2, and I'm still checking. Think it's something that doesn't go away after you've experienced losses. Xx

@mammy to 8 angels 👼 I'm so sorry you've been through it 8 times but huge congratulations on your current pregnancy and getting to 30 weeks, I bet you can't wait to meet your girl! Is it just this pregnancy where they've given you progesterone and injections? Xx

@Brittney Sorry about your losses and congratulations for this pregnancy. I can completely relate, I can't allow myself to feel happy and excited after the grief that I've been through. It makes me feel guilty but I guess it's my way of protecting myself. I'm in the UK and you have to almost beg for an early scan, it's really frustrating xx

@Elle Oh I didn't know that. My GP were really unsympathetic but they did run some blood tests. They told me I wouldn't be referred to a specialist until I'd had 3 miscarriages. It feels like it's a bit of a postcode lottery depending on where you are in the country and how clued up/caring your GP is xx

@Lisa Sorry you've had it happen twice, it's such a shock isn't. I didn't even know it was possible until it happened to me! Fingers crossed you are pregnant again and everything goes well 🤞xx

I had two consecutive miscarriages in 2020 and 2021 and now have a very happy healthy 2.5 year old! I actually decided to buy low level aspirin off the shelf after doing my own research which I started at 8 weeks due to lack of support from medical professionals for any other intervention as I didn’t meet “criteria”, I can’t be sure if it was the reason that pregnancy was successful but he stuck and he’s here now! 🥰

Hi, I had a baby in 2022, then a miscarriage 3 months ago and am pregnant again. I personally have done a lot of research and started baby aspirin 81mg every night before bed since 5 weeks. I am also hoping this helps with the blood flow to the placenta as well as help with future preeclampsia since I developed that with my first baby. I also found out I have a septate uterus so that is why I decided to take the baby aspirin early. I read online and from a lot of moms on Reddit that they started baby aspirin from even before conception and that it’s protocol for IVF patients and women over the age of 35 anyways so I am hoping I am making the right decision in doing so 🙏

I have had two miscarriages one at 9 weeks and one at 5 weeks and after that my GP suggested to take low dose aspirin (which can be taken off the counter). I asked for progesterone she said I have to wait to fall pregnant and have my first scan at 6 weeks and a viable pregnancy and implantation to be in the right location to be prescribed progesterone.

@Nesha can I ask when did you start taking the baby aspirin? My OB told me to wait until 12 weeks but if I’m being honest I started earlier than that

I had a missed miscarriage ending in d&c from jan-march and then another in may, and am currently roughly 6 weeks. It’ll be good to chat to you if you don’t mind as I don’t have anyone else to relate to

It’s a postcode lottery 100% but NICE guidelines for progesterone are 1 miscarriage and bleeding in current pregnancy, have been since 2021 but nobody seems to actually listen to them by the sounds of it (my GP was awful). I had 1 and the EPU prescribed it on confirming viability at a scan at 6 weeks. Can you call your local EPU directly and bypass the GP? That’s what they told me to do after the loss xx

@Dakotah my GP said start 2 days before ovulation and carry on taking it until pregnant if you get your period stop and restart again 2 days before ovulation. No harm in taking it doesn’t cause any issues. But soo far I’ve been taking it for 2 months not fallen pregnant yet

@Katie was it 75g aspirin you took? I've started doing the same now, although I'm only 5ish weeks. Worried I might cause harm, but at the same time feel I have no choice but to try anything I can due to the lack of support xx

@Dakotah I've started doing the same thing now, but am taking 75mg from 5 weeks. No idea if it'll help, to be honest I just have a terrible feeling it's already too late and this pregnancy is going to be another miscarriage, but we'll see. I'm keeping everything crossed for you xx

@Nesha one of the most frustrating things is how inconsistent the advice from GPs. Did your GP say to take aspirin from ovulation or later on once you're already pregnant? Xx

@Nesha ignore me, have just seen you've already to start before ovulation. I've bought aspirin myself and am taking it now I'm 5 weeks. Will see what happens xx

@Madeleine absolutely and that's probably the thing I find most frustrating, the absolute lack of up to date knowledge and understanding from GPs. I have a scan on 3rd December when I'll be just over 6 weeks (I think) and to be honest I might just pretend I've been spotting just so they'll give me some. How ridiculous that it comes to that and they don't just offer it as standard after someone has one miscarriage xx

@Laura they say it should help. It helps increase blood flow to the uterus. Hope it works for you x

@Laura, thank you. She was worth the 13 years it took to have her. She's perfect in every way, even when she's cheeky!! I see people talking about asprin. I'm on 150mg a night at have something called low papp-a, which is prescripted to me by a consultant. Don't Google it as it's scary lol but it's because it is to increase blood flow from my placenta to baby. Most people with papp-a have a healthy pregnancy and nothing to worry about, but occasionally, it can result in slow growth and babies needing to be born earlier. X
