How do I tell family to stop buying my children books without sounding ungrateful 😅 Due to the amount of books that have been brought I have far too many, every time my mother in law comes over she brings a book and every time I see my nan she gives books too. I politely say thank you, we will read that one tonight and comment on how many books we already have but they keep buying them. I currently have 3 holes of the ikea storage unit full of books and a bookshelf in each of my daughter’s bedrooms full of books. I feel guilty giving them to a charity shop when they are spending money on them but I’m just running out of space. Any tips on how to tell them to stop buying without sounding really ungrateful.

Send them my way 😂

If you have a spare room turn it into a library 😂

Bless them, they probably keep buying them because you’re being so gracious and grateful! I would just be honest with them (if you have that kind of relationship and feel that you can). I’d just say ‘we’re currently overflowing with books at the minute so could you take a break on them for a while so that we can get lots of use out of the ones we have as we don’t really have anywhere for any more to go!’ I don’t think they’ll be offended - I wouldn’t be anyway! They’ll understand you’re lacking storage space 😊
