Need advice please urgently.

Hi, I need some advice please I was homeless with my 16 month old daughter and went to Waltham Forest council for help. I explained that I'm a single mum who suffers from post natal depression, post partum OCD, severe depression, anxiety and panic attacks. I had my daughter via c section and since then I've had nerve damage which means I can't climb stairs. I am so pregnant again. I have a phobia of lifts and the council have placed me in a studio flat on the second floor despite me giving them my medical notes from my doctor to say I have nerve damage and have a phobia of stairs. My social prescriber and therapist have both written me a letter too but the council chose to ignore. They said that I have accept the flat otherwise I'll be intentionally homeless. I am now sleeping on my friends floor. I have been emailing the council for a review and they are taking so long to get back to me. I'm not eligible for legal help. I don't know what to do. My anxiety is sky high and this has heightened my depression. I'm not taking care of myself either and not eating properly in my pregnancy. please can someone advice / help me 😭😭😭 I'm suffering from hyperemisis gravdium so my life is a living hell right now sleeping on the floor with my toddler at my friends house.

Hey feel free to msg, I was homeless last year and lived in a hotel for 6months! The likely hood is that if you can't through to the caseworker I presume, chances are that they've left the role, this happened to me 6x last year! The way the current housing situation is you probably will be placed far away possibly outside of London, that's what I was asked i declined and luckily found something unfortunately still private rental , however that's what most councils are pushing people to do now. I personally wouldn't mention your on your friends floor as they will deem that as a place to stay a roof over your head etc. I was also pregnant last year and flat hunting when I was 8months pregnant, I sent a heavy email and i was told there was nothing on system .... even thou I had submitted info! It is a horrid situation and unfortunately things won't change anytime soon ❤️❤️

They also never mentioned they was leaving the role , it was only when I would phone to complain that I'd be told , have you gone physically to the council ? X

Where do I say I am staying? I can't get into the studio flat as I have a phobia of stairs. I have so many supporting letters about my condition. Please tell me what I should do😢😢😢

@Elle (i can't see waves) no I have gone as they don't have a walk in office. And they are not allowed to transfer calls either. What council was you with?

I was with Enfield before had lived there all my life unfortunately if I didn't find my own place before I had my baby , wed probably still be there. 2kids in one room it was hell 😳 I just re-read the page, in cases like this sometime it's best to accept then fight your case, you should be entitled to legal aid especially if on benefits , Also as you declined the studio they eint feel you need help anymore ,

@Elle (i can't see waves) I didn't decline it. I was told to accept and then they said I can ask for a review. I'm not staying there because it's unsuitable but I'm still being told I need to pay £700 rent

Friend of mine was moved due domestic abuse and by rules was not suppose to be placed in one place with a man, but they placed her and also it was a sharing kitchen. She did not feel comfortable and save there also being pregnant. Council ignored all her letters from professionals and they also did not want to review her case and were putting pressure that her only choice to accept that place. She left it after one week.

@@Nastiawhat council was this 😢

If it's temporary accommodation then housing benefit will cover that, as universal credit don't cover TA - That's how it worked with me last year ,, unless of course you work then a different story. I honestly feel like there fobbing you off , have you tried contacting your local mp ?

I think it was Richmond Council, and they placed her in hounslow last stop before Heathrow and she had to take the bus...quite scary and isolated area

Situation with a housing is a nightmare right now :(( I wish you luck

I work for the council. There is such a shortage of housing accommodation from the council. Most people are not given accommodation these days and if they are it’s outside of London or a hotel. If you are given a flat in London then you are lucky. Despite it not being ideal due to your phobias I’d say count your blessings if you can.
