I have this water machine where I set the right amount of water I need but the formula always adds an ounce on top of the water so for example my little one is on 7oz but the bottles come to 8oz xx
I have one too and it does come up higher. I guess it’s the powder and the milk is also quite frothy when it’s first made. My baby is thriving so I don’t think I am underfeeding her
It will come out as more. The amount of water in there will be 7oz, however including the powder that’ll make it rise. Just like when you get in the bath (strange analogy I know 🤣)

It's the formula adding volume
I agree there is a slight displacement with the water when the formula is added, however I tried it without adding any powder once when I was using the prep machine and the water alone was still higher than it should’ve been so worth a try.
It’s likely the froth :)
Have you tried doing it solely with water to test the level? If it's getting mixed in with powder it will be higher.
