@Rachel I thought this at first but they said as they were being stitched. One woman told me she had to be put to sleep during because she couldn’t handle the pain and I’m just baffled
I didn’t feel a thing once they numbed me, now the numbings worn off it’s quite tender but the actual stitching was fine!
I had a 2nd tear just 3 weeks ago I had an epidural so as I was being stitched up I didn’t feel anything but I lost a bit of blood so took a while to stop the bleeding and had to go over the 3 stitches a couple times. Don’t be scared tho everything will be alright x
They injected in quite a few places before starting the stitches and it was still quite uncomfortable. I was yak in gas and air while they did it and then the aftermath was agony. All women will react differently to win relief and numbing solutions etc so some women will still feel things and others won’t. I know a woman who has to have a double epidural because after the first, she could feel the first layer they cut open in c section so they had to turn her on her side and do so other one before carrying on. We’re all different
Yeah I agree with Maneek, every woman is different. I found the stitching the hard part to be honest. I can feel the injection going in so many places inside me and it hurt. Going to the toilet was painful too.
I didn't feel myself tear and I had a third degree tear- my birth was not great but my labour was the most painful part for me so I guess in that respect stitches could be worse as they are more aware of them. I have heard not everyone is numbed for stitches too. In my case because it was a bad tear and I had heavy blood loss I was taken to theatre and given a spinal block so I didn't feel a thing when I had my stitches. But I was very uncomfortable whilst healing. Everyone's experience is going to be different.
I had a second degree tear and it just hurt if I sat or stood up too fast
I don't think I had numbing as I could feel everything
They weren’t bad to me, I couldn’t feel them being done and after was not great but not horrible. For me when they dissolved I had the WORST itching sensation… it felt like a horrible yeast infection I couldn’t sit still. I went to my dr she said everything was fine no infections that’s just how my body reacted to them dissolving lol. Terrible. Take ALLLLLL the ice pad packs from the hospital!! They’re the bestttt (especially when I was itching) I also really loved the Frida mom healing foam! Very soothing.
I had an epidural so they gave me an extra shot of it as they knew I was having an episiotomy. Didn't feel anything really, my baby had just been put on my chest mind you so I don't think I was really thinking about it 😂 The healing takes longer than I realised, I walked too far (only to the shops and back which is an hour round trip) at about 4wks and was more sore for a few days after but didn't tear anything, thankfully! It's pretty tender for maybe a couple of months afterwards.
I think they mean the after care of stitches, so when the numbing wears off!
