It may be a dairy sensitivity not a lactose thing.
@Patience it is very rare to be born lactose intolerant which is why I've asked what makes her think the baby is lactose intolerant. It is very rare and means you'd have to be born with no lactase enzymes at all.
@Patience yes so finding out why she thinks the baby is lactose intolerant is the first step, as it's pretty unlikely and the symptoms are most likely down to something else. Either way, taking lactase pills won't get rid of the lactose in your milk
@Charley When I eat dairy, she is very fussy and inconsolable. We had talked to her pediatrician and she suggested to cut out dairy. And since cutting it out she is very calm and soothes herself
@Ashlee that would be more like cmpa than lactose intolerance. You won't be able to take a lactase tablet and eat dairy if she does have cmpa
@Becky Is there a way that my baby could get tested for CMPA, or is there anything that needs to be done to help her other than not drinking dairy?
I just removed all dairy products from my diet!!
@Ashlee the test for cmpa is complete elimination of all dairy from your diet for several weeks, and then reintroduce dairy to see if symptoms return. It's not just avoiding milk and cheese, it's all milk products in everything, you'll have to check every label for every product you eat
You need the enzyme lactase and pasteurized milk gets heated so high it kills all of the enzymes and nutrients in it…so that is why so many people are lactose (which is the sugar) intolerant…that is why more and more people are going for raw milk at smaller farms where the cows are healthy and clean and they report no longer having a dairy intolerance and also inflammatory illnesses being cured like Crohn’s or IBS…raw milk is hard to get and most people are weary of the risks but you can try low temp pasteurized milk Kalona milk if it is available in your grocery stores…it’s still pastuerized but gently to kill the harmful bacteria but maintain all the enzymes and nutrients…if not you can try coconut milk
Why do you think she's lactose intolerant? We are all born being able to digest lactose as it's a major component of breast milk. You taking lactose pills won't remove the lactose from your milk, it will always be there
