Nursery/returning to work

My little girl will be going to nursery in May when she’s 9 months old. I have to go back to work as we just can’t manage financially on one salary. However, whenever I think about leaving her at nursery I cry. I can’t imagine being away from her or people I don’t know looking after her. I really thought I’d be excited to go back to work but it’s filling me with dread and I’m heartbroken at the thought of not being with my little girl. Does anyone else feel like this?

I feel like this and I used to work in a nursery 😂 I promise even the worst criers are fine after 10 mins. You can always ring and check in too. It’s totally normal to feel this way but hopefully she will love it and you’ll be able to relax! Ask for some settling in sessions before she properly starts, even just an hour each time to get her used to being away from you ❤️

@Izzie so glad it’s not just me!! Everyone keeps saying I must be looking forward to getting back to work and having time to myself but I literally can’t think of anything worse 🤣 I will definitely ask about the settling in sessions. They will probably have to block my number once she starts 🫣😂 x

Could have written this myself. I haven’t left my baby for more than a couple of hours and I feel like he’s still so dependent on me being around all the time. The thought of him being upset and not understanding where I am is so heartbreaking to me

@Sarah this is exactly how I feel. Like you I haven’t left my little girl apart from to nip out for lunch once. I’ve been asked to pay the nursery deposit to secure her space by 1st December so I went in today to pay it and I could see the baby room and all the little babies seemed so tiny 🥲 I’m thinking about looking for a childminder instead as I went to a lovely lady when I was little and she was so kind and I still have fond memories of her so I’d feel much more comfortable dropping my baby off to someone where she’s getting more 1-1 care and has the same caregiver.
