Overstimulated in public?

I have twins and my son gets very overstimulated around big crowds or in places with a lot of noise so going out to eat (or really anywhere these days) is unbearable. His tantrums are getting worse and it's really hard. Does anyone have tips for helping him calm down or toys that you keep in your diaper bag that your little ones find soothing and entertaining?

Maybe try to go during quieter times for things? A less visited playground. A less visited play cafe. Take a walk on a Greenway. For going out to eat we do that in shifts if it's taking a while and he's getting frustrated about being in the seat for a while we'll walk around with him alternating. So like if I'm ever out with him if he's getting frustrated of being in a high chair at a restaurant, I just switch to walking around and holding him ( he's not walking .... Yet)

Maybe some quiet toys that suction to things that you can attach to things ? Maybe toddler muffy things ( we have muffy baby headband style hearing protection, might work for reducing noise for a kid overstimulated by noise, in theory .... But I'm not sure ..... Audhd momma, trying to think of what helps me when I'm overstimulated with too much noise or other things.... Big crowds are definitely noisy so that may be part of it )

Can you try noise canceling headphones or blue tooth headphones with soothing music and/or a bucket hat?

Also, it may not work yet but could help as he gets older. Maybe read books at home when not in stressful setting on how to stay calm if stressed. I don’t know of any but I imagine that there are some good books with breathing and counting exercises to soothe anxious toddlers/tantrums.

My son startled really easy at home with loud noises and cried. Does yours do the same? We have had to do work at home to get him not afraid of the garbage disposal blenders etc by including him and making it seem fun. Perhaps doing some high stimulation work at home will help.

There's some books about teaching kids mindfulness. Big little feelings is an Instagram channel often reccomended, I think they have a blog also.

Positive Ninja: A Children’s Book About Mindfulness and Managing Negative Emotions and Feelings (Ninja Life Hacks) https://a.co/d/1VolL03 here's a book about mindfulness! There's also one in the my pet dragon series !
