Foreskin

My little boy is two in January. Am I supposed to be pulling back his foreskin to clean underneath?? I was always told not to as a baby and I just haven’t thought about it since. I’m so embarrassed if I should have been 🫣 it’s just from a conversation with another mother that I thought omg should I be? No judgement please, this is my first rodeo and I’m trying my best 😭

No definitely not!

As he gets older and as he starts hitting puberty it’ll start to be able to go back more and when they touch it themselves it’ll be messed with. The only kind of pulling back I do is just clean around it. I don’t pull it over the head but I’ll move the skin around to help clean the skin that is all at the end. So I’ll pull it back very slightly but that’s it.

Ah, so we haven’t been and we just got hit with Balinitis I think and he’s so sore bless him. I wouldn’t say he’s ever left dirty or cleaned badly so not sure why. Doc has told us we should be starting to teach him in the bath to pull it back only slightly nothing to make him sore or anything and swish in bath water (no rough cleaning or soap etc!)

I was also told to start pulling back ever so slightly in the shower/bath etc xx

Thank you all! I spoke to my health visitor and she said it’s just personal preference, and she never did with her son.. I’m guessing there’s no right or wrong answer? Xx
