A&E won’t scan you but will refer you to the EPU, I don’t know why the GP won’t refer you why’s it matter to them 🤣 but yeh my experience is that A&E don’t even have the capacity to scan people but they’ve referred me to EPU before xx

@Phoebe oh perfect! i was hoping they could just refer me to EPU; idk why my doctor was being so uptight lol x

You can also try 111 who with have oncall GPs call you back (might be more receptive than your own gp)

Also definitely complain to the practice manager

That’s how it is in my area. When I had my ectopic in August the gp wasn’t interested and told me to go to a&e. I tried the 111 route first but that was pointless as they just told me to go to a&e. I went to a&e and had to wait a few hours to be seen. Once seen they called up to epu and referred me, the epu then called me the next day to bring me in as they didn’t feel it was life threatening and they were busy (turned out it absolutely was life threatening🙃)

@Ellie oh no 😭 I'm sorry you had issues with all 3 lines of the service

If you have a local midwifery unit you can also try ringing there. I have a maternity unit where I live and the midwives from there referred me to epu. They didn't see me until 2 weeks later however by which point I booked a private scan because I didn't want to wait. 111 and my local a and e were useless

A&E will scan you. I was scanned at A&E after a fall down the stairs. It’s a very basic scan to check for the heartbeat and then they refer to EPU. You don’t get a print out or anything else. Just a check

That is so annoying🙄 luckily where I am I don’t deal with the gp I go to the women’s centre where the midwives and consultants are then the bigger hospital has the EPU and triage/birth unit. I’d turn up at triage and plead ignorance just say you’re really worried and don’t know how everything works and want to see if you can be checked & see if they will send you over to the EPU x

@Eve A&E referred me in the end! i have a scan tomorrow :) + was only in A&E for an hour!! haha x

Hey are you going to Ipswich hospital? When I needed EPU they referred me through a&e ☺️

@Siobhan yes i am!! i went to A&E this morning & luckily they referred me so i have a scan tomorrow! xx

@lauren🧚‍♀️ oh good I found a&e really helped when I had problems at the beginning so glad it got sorted xx
