@Mary Alice I’ve also heard some horrible things about it but I know everyone reacts differently. Thank you for sharing it definitely eased my mind a bit knowing it’s not all bad.. Congrats on your baby girl ❤️!!
I worked at Planned Parenthood for 7 years and the most common side effects are irregular bleeding/spotting, absent period, some weight gain. I’ve even heard headaches,l and mood swings but not as much. It affects each individual differently, what some people experience you might not. Finding the right Birth control can be a trial and error thing, sometimes you gotta try several to find the one that best suits you. My personal favorite is the Mirena IUD since the hormones are localized in your uterus.
Everyone reacts differently but I had nexplanon and bled everyday for 4 straight months. OB said to keep waiting and it would level out but I couldn’t take it anymore. I was an emotional wreck and had zero sex. 10/10 Would not recommend based on my experience.
Initially, worked great for me. Had no symptoms or period for almost a year. I will be that woman, and say the covid vaccine messed it all up! Just a week after that I would get my period for a whole month. But for me it was better than taking a pill everyday. I did find that i had gained some weight, but not a lot. Towards the end, I felt like I was always full of rage. I was due for the renewed one but just had it removed. This was the worst part for me! After it was removed, I feel into what I would describe based on symptoms of ppd. The change in hormones for me was enough to do that. I had not dealt with that type of depression after pregnancy, but taking that out affected me really bad. Took me almost a month to regulate without it and I was back to myself
I had a very similar experience to the woman above minus any covid business as I had mine in and removed before that time. It caused me to have light spotting the entire time I was on it which was pretty terrible, but it was quite expensive back in the day, so I kept it in until it expired. Coming off of it was terrible tho. My GYN wanted me to be b/c free for a couple of months to reset before starting the pill, but I couldn't make it. The removal caused intense mood swings and suicide ideation. 🙃 I also still have a scar years later where it was removed. Hope this helps
Don’t get it literally the worst better of doing the depo shot or nuvaring
I’ve heard some real horror stories but personally I had it from Jan 2020-Dec 2022 and had no issues, I didn’t have a period on it but would bleed when super stressed (the longest was a week after my gpa passed) it may have made my migraines worse but I was also dealing with increased stress and was not in a good position to have a child at that point so in a way it decreased my stress and it was nice to not have to remember to take a pill and I could always just feel where it was at in my arm, after getting it removed my period came back within 2 months and was very regular and we conceived on the first try Dec 2023 (welcomed baby girl this September!) so personally I would recommend
