Labour signs

Question for all the mamas who have now had their babies, how did your labour start? Did you have any early signs? Did your water break before or after your contractions started? How far apart were your contractions to start with? When did you all lose your mucus plugs? I’m 38 weeks and driving myself crazy looking out for any slightest twinge 🫠

Following as 40+1 today

My contractions started at 5pm 31st October.. no signs just here have a contractions love 🤣🤣.... lost my plug at 7am Friday... into hospital at 2.30ish... water broke as I was pushing!!. He arrived at 7.57am 2nd November... contractions where few and far between Thursday night... ramped up Friday. 6 days early

I was in labour at 35 weeks . During the night I had a little bit of back pain and then in the morning I had contractions every 20 minutes lasting 1 minute but they weren’t sore . I had a growth scan and ctg monitor booked already for the afternoon so I just waited , tidied up the house , packed my bags just in case if it was real contractions . Scan was fine and then ctg monitor showed contractions so doctor checked me over and he said I was already 3 cm dilated . And then her heartbeat dropped so I had to be rushed for c section . She had to be resuscitated and given blood transfusion and then we spend 2 weeks in special care . But all is well now 🩷

Omg loving this post, also following cause 38+4 and everything seems like a sign right now haha

38+5 and driving myself nuts thinking everything is a sign!!!

I will preface this with don't be frightened by my experience, I've since found out precipitous labour is super rare for first time. Had the occasional twinge a couple of days beforehand but nothing concrete. Then at 3.15am my water broke, I'm a high risk girlie so went to the hospital for them to monitor me for an hour and got sent home for my contractions to start or be induced that night. Went home contractions started at around 7. They were regular by 8.15 and I was screaming alot by this point went back to the hospital. Got to triage and my bloody show plus quite a bit of bleeding started so they did a cervix check and I was already at 7cm. By the time we were done in triage and I was wheeled into delivery 40 minutes later I was at 10cm and pushing half an hour later he was here! Definitely not what I was expecting 1st, 2nd and 3rd stage all happened within an hour and a half! I did tear but I'm 10 days post and starting to feel a bit human and I was lucky not to have more complications

Had baby yesterday. My sign with both my sons has been the mucus plug and blood loss. Contractions started soon after but whilst with first baby they did not stop and I delivered within 24 hours, with my second they stopped and they started again the day after, they become regular (every 3 minutes or so initially), more closed one another and more intense until I entered in active labour and delivered. From around midday they started, I delivered at 1:32 am.

I was convinced she was coming late, I had not felt a single twinge or braxton hicks…felt pretty comfortable that I had a while left but she actually arrived 1 day before her due date. I had a day where I felt ill and bad diarrhea…the day after my contractions started. I woke up with a bit of period pain and by 12pm I was getting regular contractions. When I got to the hospital about 4pm my cervix wasn’t even open but by midnight I was 3cm dilated. I lost my mucus plug about 1am the next day, and my waters didn’t break until 7am….baby was born at 9am.

I had zero signs apart from maybe an increase in discharge the last few weeks. But woke up to contractions that were consistent, lasted about a minute, every 5 mins or so. Hour and a half later my waters broke and I lost my mucus plug and she was born about 8 hours later 😂 x

My experience has been different both times. First: waters broke, contractions started 12 hours later and slowly got more intense, closer together and lasting 1 minute. Followed a pattern. Born 12 hours after contractions began. Second: lost mucus plug Friday and Saturday morning. Very inconsistent contractions started Saturday afternoon- questioned if they were even contractions or just lots of braxton hicks. Continued through to Sunday early hours so went into hospital 5am. Confirmed in labour but only 3cm dilated. Baby was born by 8am. Only got consistent contractions for the pushing stage and waters broke just before she was born.
