Hi Julia, I think the way they phrase it can be a little confusing! My baby is measuring 2 weeks early however that doesn’t mean his lungs and Internal organs are ready! In my family we always make huge babies (around 8 to 10 pounds) but our bodies are ready and built to do so☺️ even if baby is technically ready at 37 weeks, they say that it is better to wait until 39 to make 100% sure that every organs are mature enough ☺️
Keep in mind size is also approximate from an ultrasound. They can be up to 4 pounds off with ultrasounds according to my doula and what she’s seen in her many years. But also like the others said their body might be big but their lungs aren’t 3 weeks ahead yet. So to avoid complications they always want to wait as long as they can unless you have complications or are high risk.
I’m in the same boat my first son I had a c section at exactly 39 weeks and was 9lb 7oz and couldn’t even fit in newborn clothes. This time around baby girl is measuring exactly 2 weeks ahead and I’m feeling like she’s going to be earlier. This time around it’s kicking my butt much more than the first. These big babys are hard.
In what weeks do they measure babies??
