Yep! My lil guy is def drinking less of his formula the last month I would say I started seeing signs. He eats a lot of solid foods so I’m thinking he’s ok cus he’s happy and healthy and full. But definitely seeing the signs the closer we get to his first birthday towards the end of January.
I would definitely check with your pediatrician, but my son who was ebf until about two weeks ago is going through the same thing. He only really nurses at night or first thing in the morning and otherwise has been drinking less milk in his bottles, with a healthy appetite for solids. I checked with his doc and she said we could start gradually supplementing milk with his bottles so he now is up to 2oz of milk added to his bottle. It’s going great so far, just taking it slow and adding an additional oz of whole milk each week. He does still like it warmed up though 😆🍼
Baby’s will naturally drink less milk as they get older and eat more food so in that way yes they will self wean. Mine is only drinking 1-1.5 oz per feeding but that’s down from 1.5-2 oz. My milk is very fatty so she’s never eaten much.
Yes, same. At 10 months she started nursing just twice a day so we added in another snack, focused on good nutrition and started transitioning to milk in a cup. It’s fine and normal
I think my son is showing signs. He's nursing less. He's really only nursing when he wakes up, goes to sleep and when he wants comfort. My grandma said it's okay to offer small amounts of milk this month while I'm still breastfeeding, in hopes he'll wean off easier. I do know doctors recommend waiting till they're a year old. I haven't offered my son whole milk yet but I'm going to start next week. His birthday is in 2.5 weeks so I feel comfortable giving him small amounts of cows milk and still nurse him. So he can have both milk as an option for a little. My plan is to be done nursing by the end of January 😅
