Gestational diabetes

So at my OBs office they told me they will not be doing the glucose test or any of that. At first I wasn’t worried but now I am, considering how bad it can actually be. I have PCOS which can cause issues with your sugar but have been prediabetic or anything. Has anyone had it? I would like to know symptoms.

*have never been prediabetic

uhhhhh that’s weird. they should do it regardless. i had it with my first and had no symptoms but had to be induced 3 weeks early. i’d 100% get a second opinion.

@Anna I’m very good at speaking up and I ask them a million questions even if I think they’d get annoyed…. But since it’s my first pregnancy I really don’t know you know… but I’ll make sure to say something.

random tip: if you click the 3 dots in the upper right corner, you can edit your post 🙃 Also agree with getting a second opinion. I get your OB said they don't require it, but are they really saying no if you request it?

That’s a bit weird for your OB to not test for it. Sure sometimes prepregnacy health matters but there are many cases of asymptomatic GD with no prior indications.

Did you maybe misunderstood your OB office did they say they're not doing it at that appointment but next time They're required by law to do it at a certain time with Any pregnancy in my State I had it with my first and I wish I would have known earlier than waiting I had no symptoms and when I Failed the 1 hour and the 3 hour I had to be put on insulin and it was hardcore because I didn't know and I thought maybe I would hurt my baby But I did get a chance for a couple of weeks to control it I still did not have a chance to see him for over 24 hours because his sugar was so low But with this pregnancy I knew right away to get checked and I constantly monitor myself throughout this pregnancy and get monitored through my fetal specialist as well There's nothing that you did wrong it is your pancreas that's not given enough insulin out because the placenta is actually from Baby daddy's Even though it's an Separate organ but it's not created by moms it's formed by partial Dna of The spam

And I'm not saying that you might have it but I would get a second opinion if they did say they're not doing it for your pregnancy I would reach out to another Doctor to get it tested or actually requested through your Doctor and say I want it because it's my right Would be safe than sorry because I really wish that I would have known Especially with PCOS It is extremely common when you have that to be diagnosed with gestational diabetes And if you do fail it your next pregnancy you'll get monitored earlier at the beginning of your pregnancy

@Ashley they haven’t brought it up at all so I’m the one that asked about it. When I asked the girl she told me that they won’t be doing that bc apparently things have changed and I guess insurance doesn’t pay certain things anymore… something like that. She just said they’re going to check my sugar through blood one more time.

@Ashley What law is that?

@Michelle I didn’t request it but I asked about it. I was curious as to why they hadn’t brought it up to me yet…. So my plan is to request it when I see them in 3 weeks.

@Michelle I’m confused 😭 I thought it was mandatory…. But ima ask more questions.

@Ashley thank you! I’ll make sure to start calling OB and if they’re not productive I’ll seek more support

@Jennifer it's not mandatory, but it is highly recommended.. and in general, your OB should not deny you of it if you want it. I would request it sooner rather than later. Maybe contact your insurance to make sure it's covered & that way you can tell your OB there's no reason for you not to have the test done

@Michelle thank you! I’m currently 22 weeks so I am getting concerned because I just want to make sure everything is okay. I was on metformin for a while and I went off it with pregnancy and I can tell my sugar levels were bad. So I’ve been thinking about it alot… and I’m like wait why wouldn’t they do it wtf.

@Jennifer there's no harm to getting the test done so I'm not sure why they wouldn't do it. and it's always better to be safe than sorry. if your provider denies you the test & then you find out down the line that you do have GD, they can get in trouble. so make sure IF they do tell you no, you get it documented and then go else where because they obviously aren't going above and beyond to make sure you're healthy.

@Michelle Not trying to be rude But that was kind of uncalled for this app and this group is here for any questions And also here to support each other As we grow our beautiful babies That's the whole point of having this group You can post How we are feeling at the moment That may be mothers have experienced Before or experience Now And she knows That we're not OB-GYN she was just asking if anyone has experienced it before She's the first time mom and it's okay to do that if you don't like people asking questions then i would move on Then randomly giving someone a tip and telling them to educate their self on Google We have enough to worry about than having someone comment on our post and make us feel stupid for asking a question you might need to remove yourself from this group if you don't like it or I can't get you removed But you can easily remove yourself

@Michelle thank you Michelle 🙏🏼

@Jennifer It may be with your insurance but if they're going to do that it'll show them you're A1C and your glucose at that moment I had that done at 6 weeks pregnant And then they checked it at 20 weeks pregnant to make sure it was still doing okay

@Ashley it was uncalled for for me to ask what law it is? maybe I'm trying to educate myself if it was in fact a law. I did my own research after you said that because I didn't know! that's how people learn, by asking questions.

@Michelle Nothing to do with the law is the way you Told Jennifer that there is 3 dots you might need to look at your comment towards her and read it again that was uncalled for I did not like the way you said I suggest you look up and educate yourself on symptoms and warning signs on GD unless someone here is OB you are going to get better information research and through medical sources Maybe the reason why she posted and if you go back to read her first post it says if anyone has experienced this before I'm a first time mom Maybe it's your hormones but you need to be more aware of what you Post to other people's Post I'm just looking out for my mother And mothers-to-be

@Ashley if you took 1 minute to read the rest of the thread, I was obviously being helpful & sincere. we had a very nice dialog about the topic. she even thanked me.. @Jennifer did I make you feel stupid with my comments? .... i actually think your comment is extremely uncalled for, Ashley.

@Ashley I was helping her because not everyone knows how to use the app! not everyone knows you can edit your post after you post it. how are you offended for her?? My gosh this is insane 😅 SORRY I tried to help

@Michelle Okay if you say so And she probably didn't want to say anything or maybe she didn't understand what you were trying to say but I did but whatever I hope you have a blessed day

@Jennifer if I made you feel stupid in any way, I sincerely apologize ❤️

@Michelle You're so funny you use the 3 dots just to edit your first comment to her cause you knew what she said was wrong that's why I went word for word And even screenshot of it just in case 🤣😂🤣

@Ashley it's literally still there.. my comment telling her how to edit the post.. its still there... will you stop @ me please? talk about pregnancy hormones. why are you blowing up her post with useless comments that have nothing to do with what she's struggling with. if you have an issue with the way I speak, you can either block me or dm me and we can talk it out. but stop posting emotional nonsense on other people's threads.

@Michelle It's just funny you tell someone to use the 3 dots their post and then when someone calls you out you do the same if you didn't think it was mean or rude then why did you change it 🤔 😏 just keep it like that and let everybody else see what you post then change it Maybe I should just post the screenshot right beside you're new edit it Comment 🤣😂

@Ashley please leave me alone. practice what you preach. call me rude but take a look at yourself. I am asking nicely. please just leave me alone

@Michelle 🤣🤣🤣🤣 If I was really mean girl you would be off this little group because I could forward that screenshot to the person that made this group it would be so crunchy But I'm gonna just Pretend it was your hormones it had to be girl Especially you've been a first time mom I hate for you to post something Ask a question and someone makes you feel stupid for asking Hopefully not Just reminding me What you said I suggest youLook up and educate yourself on symptoms and warning signs of GD unless someone here is OB you are going to get better information researching if that is not a kick in the face I don't know what is but have yourself a good day and I hopefully you won't ask any questions on this group Without educating yourself on Google First 😅🤣😂

@Ashley do it then, get me kicked out. and if I really was as rude as you say then there we go. they'll get rid of me

@Michelle Then why did you edit your comment at the bottom and change it if you thought there was nothing wrong just curious 🤷‍♀️

@Ashley why are you still commenting on this post? The OP and i had a great convo. you're the only one that has an issue here. I said if you have an issue with me, you can DM me. This is literally crazy. you just keep going. You're like harassing me. I'm done. You can keep commenting if you'd like but you'll just be talking to yourself. Have a lovely day.

@Michelle Don't be shame use those 3 little dots And edit it right back the way you had it I suggest Look up and educate yourself on symptoms and warning signs of GD Unless someone here is a OB you will get more better information researching Come on girl I dare you put your words back you was not rude at all you did not want to make her feel stupid for even posting a question and ask if anyone has experienced this before You know what you did was wrong but I'm gonna leave it alone Hopefully I got through to you and maybe educated you on Next time commenting on someone's post that just gently asking a question And next time you'll be nicer Everything was okay when you said you can edit with the 3 dots It's OK some people don't know how to do that but the last part of your comment before you changed it Would make anybody feel Stupid As a first time mom Or even a second we're scared to death we are suppose to be in it together And lifting each other up While we are here growing our babies

@Jennifer I probably could have message you Directly but I want to say it on here for any mother Or mothers-to-be Passing through Do not take this one person's comment To feel afraid to post a question or how you feel the rest of us We are here for yall There's a lot of knowledge that each other has Probably experienced in the past or even now that Google or even an OB has not experienced We are here to lift each other up And nothing in my book is a stupid question I hope you get your answers that you are looking for and I hope you have amazing holiday 🥰

@Jennifer yes! always speak up, ask all the questions because you are the advocate for not only yourself but your little baby also!! you got this & if the doctor doesn’t agree, always know you can get a second opinion :)

I also have PCOS and was on Metformin and worried about coming off of it and having GD. I did a test early and was fine and will test again at 28 weeks. For my my PCOS caused insulin resistance which really only messed with my progesterone levels. It never affected my glucose. But can you request a test to give yourself some reassurance???
