Whole Milk 🥛

I don’t understand this whole milk thing? When do you give it, how much do you give, do you stop formula all together? I combi feed and give my baby a formula top up before bed every night. Do I just stop doing that? Do I also just give lunch and no milk feed after or do I give whole milk with lunch and dinner? It’s so confusing!

I was wondering the same thing and my pediatrician recommended 1-3 bottles a day of whole milk and that it is easier to give them with meals. And then water throughout the day

If you are combi feeding (breast & formula?) & want to transition to cows milk, I’d swap the formula for whole milk, and maybe as one other drink throughout the day. I breastfeed and have just started giving a cup or two during the day to introduce it (not because it’s needed). There’s no real guidelines on it, and just do what you think is best for your baby 😊

I started by doing half formula and half whole milk.. then slowly increased the amount until it was all standard milk x

Give milk instead of formula or slowly decrease formula until they are having all milk. There are no real benefits for having follow on formula after age of 1 as they should be getting all vitamins needed from their food and whole milk but give a multi vitamin for vit b. x

I do cows milk in the day, and a formula at night as the prep machine is upstairs! He also pops on for breast when he wants but that’s not as often as he used to since my supply dropped a few months back. I don’t really have a routine, probably 2 small bottles of milk in the day, mid morning and mid afternoon.. he’ll go into the kitchen and point when he wants milk 😂 it’s a challenge to get him to drink water though!

My girl is completely on cows milk. We just stopped formula and just gave cows milk. Warmed in the microwave for 1 min. We’ve had no issues at all to be honest x

I have been gradually putting cows milk in and a little bit of formula and then will get rid of the formula as of when. How much cows milk do you give your baby in the day how much in the bottle? X

@Katie oh thank you for this as this is what I want to do. I know she’ll get all her vitamins because she eats so well but I’m just super anxious about this switch ! I don’t know why. Feels scary knowing all of her nutrients and needs are completely down to me now aha. I’ve found a multivitamin I like for her though and she eats plenty of fruit and veg. I’m just nervous that she won’t get everything from the food :( I’d like to do one bottle a day then the rest cows milk. I’ve tried her today on cows milk and she didn’t drink it all really :/

@Georgina this is my 3rd baby, but first I’ve transitioned onto cows milk, it’s felt like a big step knowing how much/when to give, but I’m probably also more relaxed as he’s my 3rd and I just go with my gut. Dont worry though mama, you are doing it right! My first 2 were only breastfed, and they never had a bottle, so didn’t do the transition or replacing/stopping bottles etc. Keep up with the multi vit, and offering cowsmilk. I try to keep it similar temp to the prep machine. But don’t stress it’s not the end of the world if she’s not fully on cows straight away! Does she have it in her breakfast? My friend’s little one stopped wanting any milk before 1 and is now 3.5 and thriving. You may find she starts drinking less regardless if it’s cows or formula as the food increases and they have their own preferences etc. Archie will have 3-4ozs 2x a day of cows milk but won’t finish it all, and a 5oz formula at bedtime.. and through the night too because why sleep through the night 😬😅
