Birth control

What birth control are you ladies taking? I wanted to tie my tubes, but my OBGYN gave me some advice that has me second guessing if it’s the right choice.

Is vasectomy an option?

I wish, I asked he declined. Not to bring up race but my husband has a diverse group of friends all his white friends and some of his middle eastern friends advice him it would be a good idea many of them have gotten it done. However, ALL his black friends and siblings are telling him other wise and is actually laughing at him that I asked. My brother in law is an OBGYN and he told my husband it will be easier for him to get it done, but told him I need to look into IUD. It was an observation that the advice changes based on race. I wonder why?!

@Shina o that is interesting! I’ve never heard that before. Ya my husband has gotten one, most of our friends as well. Sorry he’s not open to it! I had an overall positive experience with the IUD previously until it moved out of place, which isn’t extremely common. It completely took away my period which was nice 😅

My cousin is middle eastern and he refused to get a vasectomy! Ridiculous. His wife literally removed her uterus as a form of birth control. Getting an iud can be good. Especially the one without the hormones.

Depo is horrible I heard…multiple lawsuits

@nelli yes only some were. One of his friend from lebernon told him when you get a dog 🐕 fix it loses its mind. I was like WTF are you talking about… a dog?

@Brittany did you get pregnant when the IUD moved? Were you aware when it moved?

@Shina I started to feel like I had a horrible UTI. It lasted for a while and I finally went to the urgent care and they did an ultra sound and they saw it had moved. The doctor did tell me I could have gotten pregnant.

@Shina omg that’s so bizarre !

Yeah it’s about being macho! So outdated

@Brittany aww no. Sorry to hear. That’s great to know.

Nexplanon

@nelli OUTDATED! To the 3rd power. I was pretty confuse on the comparison. That’s the comment that stuck out to my husband the most. He keeps repeating it.

I’m 3 weeks postpartum with my second baby. I’m getting back on the Mirena IUD. I loved it. I never really had an issue with it. It’s also my first and only birth control I’ve ever used.

I did close yo a decade before my kid on depo and loved it but if being consistent with the shots would be difficult for you I'd recommend IUD.

My brother in law informed me about it recently, I never knew this existed until about a week ago. He told that the IUD last longer than it. Since my girl @Brittany informed me the IUD can move, I’ll look into the arm implant. What is your experience like with it? How long have you had it?

I had my tubes removed. I’m 10 days PP

@Miranda how was it? Can I DM you?

I have the implant in my arm (nexplanon). This is the 2nd time getting it put in. It stays in the arm for 3-4 years. I took the last one out when it was time to give my body a "reset". Got pregnant almost a whole year later or so. But it's not for everyone. My sister had one put in and her body rejected it. Less then a week later she went to take it out.

I wanted to know the same thing I feel like depo shot isn’t a option cuz when I was on it I bled the entire time and it took over a year for it to wear off and get pregnant

Had my tubes removed almost two years ago, best decision. I previously used the iud between pregnancy and prior two pregnancy and loved it as well but tube removal for long term has been amazing to never worry about birth control again

All of those can cause side affects I am very fertile and without precaution could easily get pregnant again what I do to avoid that is take neem it’s easy to prepare and side affects include a stinky burb, less painful periods and may cause a higher libido for some

Nexplanon implant in my left arm for two years

I tried an IUD When I was way younger. My cervix is so sensitive I passed out and had a seizure on the table and didn’t end up going through with it. I was recently in depo for about a year and got pregnant immediately after my first period coming off the shot. I did gain about 30 lbs while on it.. even though they said I wouldn’t.

@Shina I asked my husband to get one done after this baby too to take one for the team(it’ll be our 4th child) and he replied back no we will just be more careful to not get pregnant. Like uh no I don’t want to risk it at all after this baby. If my husband won’t get a vasectomy though I am tying my tubes. I’ve been on the arm implant before but I don’t like the side effects.

My husband got a vasectomy after my 2nd was born. I told him I didn’t want to be on hormonal birth control anymore and also with Roe Vs Wade being overturned. It was such a quick procedure for him and his recovery time was a weekend and he was fine. I honestly think it’s the least a man can do with all of the sacrifices women make with our bodies and the risks we have to take.

I got a tubal ligation and my husband got a vasectomy. I told him he had to take care of his side of the equation with condoms or get fixed. He chose to get fixed cuz we have 3 kids and both are done having more

I got my tubes removed and will never ever talk anyone into doing it. I highly regret it. I didn’t want to be on birth control and my periods are bad the first few days.

@𝓚𝓲𝓽𝓽𝔂 you got a keeper, it’s literally the least they can do. Your husband probably don’t have his boys circle in his head. I am so happy for you. I will try a birth control for like a year and tie my tubes because I honestly don’t want no more kids

@Heather Yes, that’s the safest way.

@Becky really? Your response is so different. Can I DM you? Cuz no one really talk about the regret part of the procedure.

Condoms

Whatever you don’t do PLEASE DONT GET DEPO omg the worst birth control you could ever get on..

If you’re second guessing I def wouldn’t get tubes tied! Yea you can get them untied but that costs money and another surgery and it’s only like an 80% chance you would be able to get pregnant again. I have the IUD and I lovvve it

@Kelsi did you experience any hormonal side effects?

@Becky if you don’t mind me asking, shy do you regret it. I’ve been thinking about doing it after I give birth.

@Bella none at all and I’m almost at 2 years post removal. Tubal removal shouldn’t have any hormonal effects bc your tubes do nothing for hormone production, your ovaries are what is important and those remain.

@Shina yes you can

@Bella My periods are a bit more painful than they were when I had my tubes.
