Contraception

I am currently taking the desogestrel pill but have found it’s been making me feel really down and generally not great I had an emergency c section, which there were some complications with, and was told I need to make sure I wait at least a year before getting pregnant again, so need to make sure I am on some sort of contraceptive so there are no accidents! I’m thinking maybe some sort of non-hormonal contraceptive would be best so it doesn’t affect my mood? Does anyone have any experience with using the copper coil? Pros and cons would be much appreciated!

I know this isn’t what you’ve mentioned but I’m really liking the contraceptive patch x

I’d speak to a medical professional, what works for one person may not work for you. If they know progesterone only doesn’t work for you they may be able to suggest some alternatives ❤️ I have had an implant before and it’s really affected my mood, I decided to try again after giving birth and I have got on better with it this time 🤷‍♀️

I used that one as well and it made me feel awful!!! I’ve decided to go with the marina coil as I’ve heard good things about it! The pills just don’t work for me and give me major mood swings.

I was in the same boat, was on the mini pilll before my 1st, had an emergency C-section, and was told by the surgeon to wait 2 years and the midwife 1 year. Couldn't decide what to go back onto because of the way it made me feel and I knew I wanted children close! I'm now pregnant, and my 1st will be 18 months and a few weeks when this one arrives. Midwife/consultant are fine with it as it will be over 18 months birth to birth. My risk factors are still the same as if I had waited longer to conceive, so try not to worry too much!

I have the copper coil and its great!
