Teeth

Hi mommas, I’m concerned because my son is 1 year and 6 months and has stains on his teeth. Is this bad?? Should I take him to the dentist?

Are you brushing his teeth?

Also, does he drink a lot of sugar based things? And has he had his first dental appointment yet?

I would definitely take him to dentist. Once they get teeth in, you're supposed to brush them 2xs a day. My kids dentist said to use the size of a grain of rice of fluoride toothpaste and a rag to wipe excess that accumulates when your brushing.

@Jess he only drinks water and 1 bottle of milk to go to sleep. Will be making his appointment tomorrow!

@BROOKE wow I did not know this. Thank you for this. Will be making his appointment tomorrow morning.

Yes and not in a bad way but I was told not to do milk to sleep as that can cause decay cuz it just sits there overnight. It needs to be brushed off so before bed is fine but before a tooth brushing. they told me fluoride at least once since it can hurt their stomach if they swallow too much so we do fluoride/minty in the morning and non fluoride strawberry toothpaste at night

What we try to do for our night routine is bath, milk bottle, then brush. After brushing, we only offer a few ounces of water in his bottle until morning.

It's from falling asleep with milk. My now 6 year old breastfeed to sleep til she was 2 and her front teeth did that and worse because it sat on her teeth. We ended up having to have her two front teeth removed so they didn't decay her adult teeth. So yes see a dentist.

He should have been going to the dentist at first tooth so yes.. it could be from a number of things. Falling asleep with milk, bottles, sugary food and drink.

How often are you brushing teeth? Is he sleeping with a bottle?
