Medicated or non-medicated FET

Our reason for IVF is male factor but I do have a very low AMH in my early 30s and responded poorly to stims. We have one embryo is the freezer so one shot as it took several rounds to get this embryo. Does anyone have any advice or experience re medicated or non-medicated FETs? - anything in particular I should consider or ask my clinic?

I only had 2 embryos from 3 cycles. I chose to go with medicated as they fully control lining then whereas luck with your own could risk cancelled round which I didn’t want to lose time on it. Your choice though. It’s less meds natural round. With medicated wax progesterone and oestrogen minimal throughout post transfer too

I had medicated as felt that it would give me the best chance. Sending you lots of positive thoughts ✨️

I’ve had 2 unmedicated and both have worked. I liked not needing to take meds. But it is up to you. We have male factor and I ovulate regularly with no lining issues etc.

I think it depends on how regular your cycle is as to which is best. We only had one embryo to use from 2 cycles and went the unmedicated route as my cycles are regular and we weny through IVF to stop passing on a genetic condition. The unmedicated transfer worked for us and I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant

I chose to have medicated as it’s more controlled, I found the thought of having to do ovulation strips etc stressful. It’s just personal preference but I would seek advice from the drs to gather their opinions too. We are also male factor & I ovulate regularly with no issues x

@Amy you don’t have to do ovulation strips with natural. They still monitor through scans and you trigger when there is a dominant follicle, similar to egg collection (without stims) and then transfer is 7 days later. I guess every clinic might have slightly different protocols

@Laura yeah it must be different for different clinics as I was told I’d have to tell them when I had my ovulation surge. So at my clinic you do have to do your own ovulation tests. With my medicated FET I don’t have to trigger it’s just tablets, pessaries & one scan x

Both my naturals have been fully natural, so I had scans to check lining and dominant follicle and then ovulation tests to check for peak and then transfer 6 days after peak. No trigger injection.

I was leaning towards medicated as I wanted to take the pressure off myself. However after speaking to the consultant she said it would be better to do unmedicated as they can never replicate what your body does better than it doing it itself (aslong as you ovulate regularly) and my first FET worked! Good luck ☺️
