If he’s chosen to start it himself then keep going, nursery will help and encourage just pack plenty of spare clothes, I’d stay with pants tbh as may confuse him. Good luck xx
From our experience recently I’d say go for it! This was my worry too as my little girl initiated potty training over the Christmas break. We did four days of it at home with either me or her daddy constantly reminding her to keep her knickers dry, made it fun, gave her rewards and lots of praise and i was concerned how she’d get on with it at nursery, but they’ve honestly been awesome. You’ll obviously need lots of spares, as he won’t get the same attention as at home and may have accidents (I packed 6 pants and leggings which were all used one day🙈) but from my experience I’d say go for it! I take our carry potty and sticker chart, which our nursery use to be true to our home routine. My little girl seems to have number 2 accidents at nursery, but it’s not put her off and she loves wearing her big girl pants now! Hope it goes well, I can’t imagine doing this all with a newborn too! Congratulations! 🥹 xx
@Sophie thank you! Thankfully new born is a very chilled baby and sleeps the majority of the day I think my toddler is loving all the attention with potty training especially as a lot of attention has been on our 3 week old recently. We bought a carry potty today which he’s sat on tonight on FaceTime to nanny 🤣but yet to use he likes his toilet style potty we’re going out tomorrow and hopefully he’ll use it! Good idea about taking sticker chart to pre school I’ll definitely pack that with his potty!
Nurseries are so helpful at keeping you on track! Some nurseries need to know you’ve been doing it for a while ours was 2 weeks but they did ours went with us after a long weekend. Go with just pants but lots of spare pants, bottoms, socks for accidents and pull ups if he still has an afternoon nap. Nursery should work with how you’re doing it at home
