Dreading going back to work 😭

I've been very lucky to have 2 weeks off for Christmas, and although I only have 2 weeks left at work (maternity starts 17th) I'm absolutely dreading it, it's making me cry 😭 I know I need the money so have to but I work in a nursery baby room where it's either sitting on the floor or standing so I know I'm going to be in so much pain/uncomfortable. I'm just worried the stress/pain is going to make me miserable, especially too as I'm monitoring my blood pressure as it's been creeping up the past week. Nothing really to this just a moan 😓

Aw it's awful feeling like this 😭Are work not able to make any reasonable adjustments for you? Given where you work you'd think they'd be understanding. Hope it goes OK and fast for you 🤞🏽

I’m finding it so difficult too! I’m a baby room leader and been struggling with rib and back pain for a few weeks now. Going to wait to see what they say at my growth scan next week as I may need to go off even earlier, I doubt I’ll make it to the end of the month either way

Did the nursery do a maternity risk assessment for you? They’re meant to update it throughout your pregnancy and if day to day tasks are now causing you pain then they should make reasonable adjustments. I know the feeling though, i have four weeks left at work and I’m struggling.

Similar situation where I’ve managed to take things at a slower base and rest more I’m dreading going back and worrying how my body is going to cope. X

I feel exactly the same as you, I’m back tomorrow for a week before I leave for maternity and I just don’t know how I’m going to get through the week knowing that my bosses will be panicking and needing lots of things doing before I go off! My plan is to speak to HR in the morning and just explain that I’m struggling and that I will need to go steady - I have a desk job so no where near as active as what you do. Take One day at a time and if you need to finish earlier then tell them that. Good luck!! You’ve got this xx

Same here. I am meant to be working for 3 more weeks but I’m thinking 1 or 2 max. Do I have to give an amount of notice though if finishing earlier?

Thank you ladies ❤️ I'm going to see how I go and not push myself, if I need to finish earlier it is what it is! I'll have a chat with my manager in the morning just to let her know how I'm feeling and to update my risk assessment. She's said how well I've done the whole time so I don't exactly feel guilty! Laura - I'm not too sure, I doubt it as most employers have a rule in place that if you're off with a pregnancy issue within 4 weeks of due date your forced to start maternity so assume it's ok the other way around?

Please advocate for yourself and baby, your health and happiness is very important! I am also a nursery worker in baby room, and started my maternity on the 19th December. Feeling very glad about that as the idea of all the bending and getting up and down from the floor is nauseating. Not to mention lifting the babies...my work would try to accommodate me and ensure I didn't lift much but as I'm sure you know... it's just impossible with ratio numbers never being met due to sickness and agency workers etc. You end up doing a lot more physical labour than you feel capable of. Hope you're okay and your manager is understanding and helpful
