Toddler Throwing Head Back
So my 2-year-old has a new thing that she's been doing where if you pick her up she will headbutt you. Either she'll throw her head back or she'll throw her head forward. But her intention is to hit you on the head. I did not take well to this this morning as I already had a headache but I was trying to pick her up because we were at the zoo and I wanted to show her the rhinoceros and when I picked her up she threw her head back and hit me on my head and I hit her back and I know that I should not be doing that. But also I don't know how to teach her that that hurts without hitting her back telling her does not work. We've been dealing with this for about a month or two and every time we say ouch that hurt mommy or that hurt Daddy but she doesn't care. She literally laughs like she's a psychopath.
Ouch?!! Sorry I didn’t see this post before… how are things now? Still the same? That sounds horrendous, does she do this every time you pick her up? Like she just doesn’t want to be picked up? Can she be put in a little ride on (strapped in) bike type of thing so you can just push her along? Safely out of harms way? Honestly I don’t blame you for getting annoyed/frustrated to that extent, that would really hurt as well so you’re not going to always react calmly. I’m trying to think of other suggestions, but it’s hard without knowing her reasoning behind it? Is it because she finds it funny? Is it because she doesn’t want to be picked up? 🥴
