The right formula

Just wanted to ask, if baby is on the right formula will they still have diarrhoea and gas which is extremely smelly (rotten eggs)?

have you read the small print? usually they do still get really loose stools with cmpa milk. my little one was on puramino nutramigen and i was freaking out because i thought something was wrong, her poo was so loose and stinky gas but i ended up reading the small print which said it was normal with the formula x

They can do Certain formulas can cause these symptoms I know nutramigen causes bad poos And my girl is on neocate and has been for over a year now and still had alot of smelly farts 🤣

@emily yes I read it but I actually saw a paediatrician regarding this and they advised that rotten smelling poops and gas are not the norm, diarrhoea and green colour is normal on the formula though. My LO was unfortunately reacting to the formula and he has now been switched to neocate LCP x

@Emma-louise it turned out that he was reacting to the extensively hydrolysed formula so they now switched him to neocate and his poops smell normal, no gas issues and he is like a new baby 😅

@Sonia i’ve heard that neocate lcp is really bad and has caused hypophosphatemia and bone disease so id just be very wary and do your research on it x

@Sonia also the smell is normal and nothing sure why your paediatrician would say it’s not but i’m glad you found a resolution xx

@emily that's very old research and is on already poorly children with other issues My lg went on it at 3 weeks old and is nearly 14 months still on neocate and has no issues like this like billions of other babies

@Sonia just be warned eith neocate the gassy might come back for a few weeks as it warns that and constipation for a few weeks so just be prepared for that

@Emma-louise thank you! Yes I read about it, I’m just happy that my baby doesn’t break out in hives after every feed and doesn’t cry constantly, he is already such a different baby. We’re awaiting to see an allergist and a dietician

@emily I know, I have read all the research and it was done on premature babies who already had GERD and gastrointestinal issues which lead to malabsorption of phosphate which was easily resolved with phosphate supplementation or change of formula. I’ll also be under the care of a dietician, specialist paediatrician and allergist so I’m sure they will check his bloods every now and again to make sure that he is absorbing all the nutrients x

@emily she said that some sort of smell is normal but not rotten egg or fish smell, this shows that he was having issues digesting the formula. He also had other reactions to it which meant that it wasn’t for him x

@Sonia oh sorry I didn't know baby was still breaking out in hives with hydrolysed formula Neocate is a great formula for us anyways Just don't expect much from dietician or paeds in our opinion they haven't done much apart from referring for allergy testing due to facial swelling 🙈

i also second what emma-louise says. our experience with a dietitian was poor and good luck getting through to any paediatrician. unfortunately they aren’t very helpful in my opinion but i’m glad you’ve done your research as some don’t and end up with problems x
