So sorry to hear it - HG is absolutely horrific and no one will ever understand unless they have gone through it. In addition to the above, check out https://www.hyperemesis.org/ which have protocols and advice to follow both for patients and for healthcare providers in case there is something you are not currently being offered. Sounds similar to my first pregnancy - I tried all the antiemetics available at the time. Things that helped me were mixing medication (as advised by GP) and finding foods that weren’t horrific to throw up - tinned peaches were a winner for me here. I could manage about a slice or 2 a day which isnt a lot but is at least something. I couldnt drink water, but could sometimes handle popsicles. Thiamine is very important with HG, I know it seems impossible but try take supplements if you can. I know you said you don’t need suggestions for meds, but some GPs/midwives are not aware of Xonvea which is relatively new and revolutionised my current pregnancy.
And look after your mental health - lots of women suffer with their MH during and have PTSD after HG. Get support if you need it ❤️
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. This is what’s called ‘the death zone’ by many. Weeks 6-12 or somewhere in between is where it happens for a lot of women, around the same time that non-HG morning sickness happens for other women. Mine was probably weeks 5-10. During that time, I found no medication helped and IV fluids only helped for a couple of hours if that. It passes for many women so long as you stick with your treatment. You body needs to re-right itself before the meds can help, but don’t give up on them just yet. Around week 9 my meds started to work a bit and IV fluids helped a ton. I was sick all the way through to 41 weeks but NOTHING like in the beginning and finally medication managed from about 24 weeks with no IVs needed. Everyone is different, but if you keep up with treatment at this early stage, it should help slow the decline and eventually help get you back to eating and drinking which will make a HUGE difference even if you still feel like crap most days
I’m so sorry it’s so full on for you. I was on meds/ regular IV Fluids till quite late on this last pregnancy (stopped Xonvea around week 34 but things improved a lot half way through the second trimester) I know that for many women what helps the most is finding the best combination of different meds. Electrolyte drinks helped me to be a little more stable and in the beginning coke was one of the only things that stayed down. Water didn’t. call the helpline of Pregnancy Sickness Support. https://pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk They can advise and they also run a peer support system and offer HG specific counselling. It’s very normal to struggle mentally when you have HG, as it’s so vicious physically. I developed a thiamine deficiency and was literally scared of dying due to HG and even tho I got a great medical specialist after that I really needed mental support too. Reach out for as much practical, medical and mental support as you can is my advice 🤗
