IUD’s 😬🫣

Any other women out there absolutely TERRIFIED of getting an IUD? I do hear it’s one of the most popular birth controls and I have been recommended to it from a physician before. But ever since I became sexually active and to this day it’s a HELL NO for me. It seems so incredibly invasive and I just don’t like the thought that you don’t have control over it yourself and can’t take it out at any time. I’m not taking about taking it out to get pregnant I’m saying for any reason! Like something foreign inside my uterus that has the potential to stick to the lining of my uterus and then needing surgery? No thanks? I’ve also heard that men will feel the dangling wire on their penis when thrusting. Like idk all birth control sucks though I wish my partner would just get snipped at this point since he refuses to give me a second baby anyway! Thoughts on IUD’s or experiences so far?

I've had 2 IUDs, both Mirena. Insertion is painful to me, I'm just very, constricted down there to say 😅. So they always have to use the smallest speculum and it's still painful for me. However, I loved my IUDs. They completely stopped my periods and mine were long and painful. My husband never had issues, and the removal was painless.

I’ve never had one, but I’m going to be getting the Mirena in a few weeks. I just had my second in October and can’t do another one right now. Tried the mini pill and I bleed for over 30 days going through a maxi in 3 hours the whole time. So I stopped that and discussed the mirena at my appt yesterday. I’ll let you know how it goes 😬 I’m terrified lol

I had the Skyla for maybe 3 weeks before I had it removed. Constant cramping ( so much to the point I had to leave work early), constant bleeding. After 2023 baby had the arm implant for about a month before I had it removed. No cramping but non stop bleeding, horrible acne and mood swings. I hate birth control lol they say it takes longer than that to level out or for the symptoms to go away but not worth it in my opinion. I am considering getting the copper iud though and see if it’s a better fit for me

I've had the Mirena twice, and mostly pain free for both insertions and removal. Only one quick cramp on insertion. No periods! I loved them. Some people have significant pain with the insertion and removal, and some don't at all! You'll hear the horror stories, but there really isn't a venue for all the people with great experiences to speak up. Make sure you have open communication with your provider, so you can manage through the procedure in case things feel bad. Preemptive ibuprofen can help, or your provider might be able to do stronger pain management. My provider said that the orientation of my cervix made things easy, so maybe that's even something they can check out beforehand.

I won’t get one personally. I’m not a fan of bc in general
