I find it really soothing and freeing cos it's pretty much the only way for my back pain to be at all relieved
No, it's a really good idea to do all of those birthing ball exercises, as they encourage the baby's head onto the cervix to assist with cervical changes 😊 When I went into labour I got to 4-5cm dilated at home and using the ball for some comfort, rhythm and relaxation 😊
In my first pregnancy I bounced so much! It was one of the only comfy positions, I was still induced but maybe it helped my labour be quick, I ate dates each day too and some other wives tales! This time I’ve not done a lot of that as was scared to bring baby on early 🤣🤣.
I was told to keep going! I've been on my ball since 36 weeks and 40 weeks today and he's still comfy in there x
I did read that bouncing doesn’t do anything, but moving it in circles etc to keep your hips/pelvis moving is very useful!
Not a waste of time at all. Keep moving and can help position the baby well
Idk if it has something to do with it but I used it frequently with my previous two babies, first was induced and the time pitocin started to baby in my arms was just under 4hrs, second baby came naturally same day as my sweep and labour was only 1hr30mins 🤣 but I agree it was comfortable and great for moving into position
Oh my goodness I used a ball this time round and oh my the head jolted into place and started my labour off so quickly! Could not believe it!
@Sophie how many weeks were you? This is wild
I was 37+4. I was already in hospital as my waters broke. I had mild contractions already that I couldn’t really feel. The midwife said why not try the ball. I sat on it and within 10 mins I felt a huge jolt and apparently babies head went down and my labour then started and baby was born 3-4hours later 😬🤷♀️ how crazy from a ball!
@Sophie that is so crazy! Was it your first?
No it was my second hence maybe why the quick labour time but the ball part I never used with my first. So I would recommend 😁
It’s good for getting the baby into position and opening up your pelvis, so def not a waste of time!
