SSRI's during pregnancy?

I've recently been put on Lexapro due to overwhelming anxiety and depression symptoms kicking in during my second trimester. I was wondering if anyone else has experience being on ssri's and how it was for your baby after birth. They warned me of withdrawal but I'm nervous what that will look like.

I definitely hope you get some responses. I am currently on lexapro. I’m curious about getting pregnant while on it.

Are you concerned about your baby withdrawing? I don't have much knowledge here but I'd look into if small amounts pass into breast milk. If it does, and you're breastfeeding, maybe the baby wouldn't experience withdrawal or it would be super limited. I have no idea though- just something to look into. I'm personally weary of any meds during pregnancy but 100% believe if there is minor risk to the baby from a med but the alternative is major risk to the mother, take it!! And proud of you for seeking help!

Do a quick Google search of "Lexapro pregnant reddit" and you will find many women who say anecdotally they saw no negative effects on their baby and didn't see any signs of withdrawal. :)

my psychiatrist said my ocd medication, not a benzodiazepine, not a ssri was safe. obgyn says the same. i think it’s a personal choice, if it’s new and easy to get off, id try clean pregnancy, but weigh the pros and cons?? i’ve been on my ocd med, luvox almost ten years, and without it, i have even worse anxiety and obsessive compulsive behaviours (such as cleaning and fretting) it keeps me up all night.

i dunno if “ reddit “ should be trusted ever, especially in pregnancy. consult mental health drs and gynaecologists about all meds in my opinion.
