Water broke

I'm 38 weeks and two days old. My water broke this evening, so I called triage, and they checked me in to make sure it was the water that broke. I've been experiencing back pain and some stomach pains ever since, but after a few hours, I feel a little better. I'm a first-time mother, so I don't know how labour goes, so I'm just wondering if it's normal to bleed after your water breaks and feel some pain.

Yes normal for pain, the bleeding depends on how much. Definitely speak to the midwife if you are concerned

Just a little bits and the bleeding stop already and after they check in they confirm that the water is not yet broke

@Akintayo Zaynab then they will probably send you home to labour and dilate at home, have you been offered a sweep? That can get things going too

Yes thank you I was offered a sweep in which the midwife said she can’t sweep the cervix that it’s still far away that am not dilating yet that once the cervix is nearer it can be sweep but still far ahead she can’t sweep it. So she will offer me pain killer for the pain and I can go home
